Vagotomy (cutting the vagus nerve) causes... - Cure Parkinson's
Vagotomy (cutting the vagus nerve) causes/leads to...?
Perhaps a new form of parkinsonism since it seems already inhibited in PwP ?
Per DuckDuckGo: Destruction to the vagus nerve, by cutting would result in a severe Vitamin B12 deficiency as the vagus nerve is needed for intrinsic factor secretion. This could lead to various symptoms which most widely lead to an untimely death and therefore this isn't practiced anymore (it was a medical procedure once).
Vagotomy is not a good option, because of the importance of it, to our health, in my opinion!
I vaguely remember cutting the Vagus was once a treatment for chronic gastric ulcers. But when someone proved ulcers were caused by bacteria antibiotics became the standard.
There are some reports that cutting the vagus nerve prevents Parkinson's, based on the premise that a-syn starts in the gut and travels to the brain via the Vagus, however it does not help once Parkinson's is already set.IMO there is no need to cut Vagus, especially since it crucial for regulating the parasympathetic control, of the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.
