Inflammatory disease in many cases contributes to the beginnings and severity of PD. Unfortunately lectins in many foods help to create this situation. I know of a few Drs that are turning to the carnivore diet for their patients, I was wondering why that was, he explains it in another video as well. I'm on the fence since I have always felt veggies were important, aside from night shades. I will have to research further to find veggies that are lowest in lectins. Inflammation is a problem for me. Thanks for posting this.

He is a little bit ambiguous with the truth. Vagotomies (cutting the vagus nerve) are possibly associated with reduced PD risk - particularly truncal vagotomies, but that isnt necessarily due to lectins transferring from the gut to the brain via the vagus nerve.

There is plenty of research implicating the gut brain relationship being due to transmission via the vagus nerve - but of other things - like bacteria, and alpha synuclein. So cutting the vagus nerve stops them from getting to the brain.

Good video, but good grief, it begs the question, 'Is it possible for the average person to navigate around lectins, gluten, GMOs, carbs, plastics, processed food, pesticides, air polltion, bad nutrition advice and Ozzy Osbourne and the answer is unequivocally, "no."

Now that's a pretty good point. We've become 90% vegans and I think we will stick with that until Park bear says otherwise.

My blood panel says I'm overloaded with B12, yet I don't take the stuff. Go figure.

If it isn't from supplementing and it sounds like that is not the cause, one cause for high B-12 readings can be impaired kidney function because the kidneys are not fully excreting excess B-12. Another cause is liver issues. One other known cause is a specific form of leukemia, but It seems that your doctor would have already covered those bases. I think certain medications may affect B-12 levels, but I am not sure on that point, but again it seems that your doctor would already have covered all of the known causes. Not trying to scare you, Marc. Just listing some potential reasons because high B-12 that is not from supplementing is fairly uncommon.

Considering that you wrote recently that you are eating a mostly vegan diet, I agree with Art that it may be a cause for concern.

I did not care to take time to view the entire thing but in the initial segment he makes a lot of claims and does not give any references. Doctor Steven Gundry of the "plant paradox" book made numerous claims about lectins that were not supported by the references that he did give. One case of bad kidney beans does not a universe of lectins make.

interesting video but what is left to eat? Steak and broccoli!!

Also I wonder how the Mediterranean diet helps some people if nightshades are so bad?

Dr. Mischley recommends 1/2 cup legumes a day, just not out of a can. She says 1/2 cup hummus a day will do it.
