Watched The Matrix again yesterday, after a long time.
When the boy tells Neo:
“Do not try and bend the spoon, that’s impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth…there is no spoon. Then you will see it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself”
It reminded me of the time when I used to believe in Mind over Matter.
Makes me think what if?
What if Joe Dispenza is right?
What if its all in the mind?
What if I am not really sick?
What if I could manifest my healthy future?
What if there is no Parkinson's?
What if There Is No Spoon?

But here, back on earth, I cast my vote that there is a spoon because if there wasn't, that is, if we could pronounce ourselves healthy, of the hundreds of thousands of PWP (and millions of others with chronic illnesses (AD, ADL, MS, MSA, heart disease, diabetes, etc.) some of us would have done so by now and it would be well known.
Art and park_bear would have long since been extolling on how it's done.
How many will remember Mr. Dispenza's assertions when he is old enough to/and contracts a chronic illness.
IF he is saying we could rid ourselves if this affliction if only.. .. ..shame on him.
Having said that it seems stress increases symptoms at least in my husband so if he can manage his stress using mind over matter perhaps he can feel better and have less symptoms? I don’t think it would affect the result on a datscan though, not that he has had one.
Dr Jeanmonod (FUS on the spot therapy) drew similar conclusions: "Paralimbic/associative areas are in close vicinity to the mentioned motor areas, and the cingulate motor maps represent a place where the motor and psycho-emotional systems come together. This underlies the normal psychomotor continuum (no movement without a concept or emotion at its source) and explains the activation/maintenance of motor symptoms, particularly axial akinetic manifestations, by overactivities set in the psycho-emotional network".
I am a big fan of Dr. J. I've read the paper you refer to a few times. He's written other similar papers. I find them all very interesting. In addition to being a neuro surgeon, he's also a "neurologist/philosopher." He identified the PTT target 30 years ago, but I don't share his theory that, for example, my gait initiation issues are, as he says, the result of past trauma or are resolvable by my resolving past trauma's. For one thing, I've come to believe not all past trauma's are resolvable. Some are too severe. We learn to live with those.
Don't get me wrong. I am a firm believer that our attitude plays a huge role in our health. A person who doesn't consider their illness totally disabling is not totally disabled whereas a person with the same level of disability who considers himself totally disabled is totally disabled.
But, this is different than believing we can or should be able to rid ourselves of PD or prevent it thru the "right" mind set -- or taken to its logical conclusion, maintain perfect health throughout our lives by having the right mind set.
How does this explain a young child born with a terminal illness?
Yes. There is also the worst thing ever perhaps: something called Unending Trauma by lay people and, in the scientific literature, CTSD (Continuous Traumatic Stress Disorder) or CTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) "
My Mannitol spoon is real. However, you are right because the body does not come and tell you that it is possessed by the disease: "It is you who say it. Why? Because you have wrongly identified yourself with the body." (Ramana Maharshi, 1938)
Very interesting thank you for sharing, the article has a quote that there are no limitations that limitations are just in the mind. I would love to tap into that and feel that way. I have always enjoyed reading about the collective unconscious by Jung also. I do believe the saying that there can be no positive life with a negative mind and I especially believe in kindness
I absolutely believe in the power of the mind and a positive attitude contributory to healing. While no one should ignore new physical symptoms and do what it takes to address that to counter the diesease trajectory, it's important to avoid fear, anxiety, or get trapped in a pessimistic mindset. If you don't believe you'll ever heal and call yourself a realist intent on propagating that view, you simply won't get better.
The video below discusses some aspects of the mind over body.
Yes I enjoy Dr. Weil very much! Whenever I want to try a new herb I’ll google what he has said about it to see if I want to. I love integrative medicine and want to learn more. I am most familiar with Chinese medicine, I use acupressure regularly and get good results. Some say it’s placebo and if it is that’s fine I’ll take it! Anyway very enjoyable video
I tend to do the same to visit the site articles but they don't always seem to be written by Dr. Weil and I don't always agree with some assessments. Acupuncture and acupressure are definitely not placeboes! 😉
Cognitive Behavioural Therapies show that there are deep hidden fears going back as far as childhood sometimes. and even what is termed as "Relaxation-Induced Anxiety"...
