What to do with shot reaction

I had the first covid shot three weeks ago. Other than mild ache from the injection there was no problems. Yesterday I had the second shot. I'd been warned that I might have a stronger response. No lie there. Today I've got muscle ache from neck to ankles. Normally I take morning medications then an hour later I'm okay to hit the treadmill. No chance of that today. I added tylenol and ibuprofen but so far no response. How long til I feel back to normal?

I have extensive arthritis. I had Modena shot and both times I was in a lot of pain for two days

Why does a vaccine make you ache all over? I can understand your arm aching a bit, but from neck to ankles sounds somewhat scary.

Basic medical physiology. First vaccine stimulates mild vaccine response then second vaccination stimulates ten-fold response, including catecholamine release. Catecholamines cause the flu-like signs but fade in a day or two. That's what we were taught in vet medical school 30 years ago. Some vaccines like Rabies don't require boosters but some require one or two boosters and some have to be re-injected every year.

BTW, generally animals get vaccinated while humans get inoculated.

My Pfizer story is less dramatic than yours but maybe a bit stranger.

Day 0, 1 & 2: arm discomfort at injection site, minor headache Left Temporal lobe, Cramps in both legs, dominant leg (Rt) had 'Charley horse' in bed at night

Day 3: head ache worse , approaching brain fogg level, mild stomach irritation in afternoon, Melatonin took longer than normal, ~ an hour, to work and shorter till first awakening then light sleep to arising time

Day 4: headache & Fogg gone, mild constipation, mouth and gums @ low pain level, Right (Dom.) #3 finger's arthritis is driving me nuts today . Again Melatonin took longer than normal to work but more sound than last night

Day 5: bowels headed in the 'other' direction ( 2 movements in one day is unusual for me), random teeth are now aching , gums quiet, arthritis in dominant (Rt) hand pinky and ring finger at a low boil. Woke up at regular time 06:30 no alarm.

More as it comes.

Day 6: Dental work in the late afternoon, BM late but 'regular' at 1 per day

headache again off and on , through the day, gut still upset, Arthritis on dominant hand now back again on 3 rd digit

Day7: had some Pink Aus. bubbly in the afternoon, with 2 , (vacc. 'ed) friends . B.D. soon and the bubbly brought on the regular white wine sting/pokey like little needles sensation I get on my gums, (came on a couple years back) , back to Red. Stomach less than happy, ate Sushi and Papaya which calmed guts a bit. BM at 05:20 Sunday 👍

Day 8: still have mild gut irritation all day. Did gardening to get lawns de-leafed and get the winter sand and gravel off before it needs to see a lawn mower and noticed that my gait was all off , with an audible sort of a flat foot slap on the sidewalk, rather than the heel touching first as in running. No BM by 22:00 👎
