The link below is the story of how a rather mainstream scientific study about the positive link between Covid-19 and Vitamin D is sparking further debate.

Saying there is a "link" could easily be misinterpreted. There is pretty good evidence that vitamin D reduces the severity of covid infection.

@park_bear, I did say "positive"😊

My Dad was supplementing 4000iu a day for at least 12 months before he contracted covid and died of it.

@winniethepoo, you do bring up a troubling aspect to this virus with the example of your dad (may his soul rest in peace). There's serious allegations that this virus escaped from a lab in Wuhan and did not come straight from the wild. Maybe they/we are dealing with a weaponized virus that doesn't conform to the normal expectation of an observed response?

Maybe the pixies at the bottom of my garden working with the little green men from the flying saucer will come up with a cure. Who creates a weaponised virus with a mortality rate of 3%, mainly killing the old? Doubtless they have also synthetically produced all the more infectious and lethal variantsIt's scary to see how many people allowed a vote in a democracy believe conspiracy theory nonsense in this Internet age

It seems that if the government were going to try to "thin the herd" in a general sense and not get caught, it would try to design a virus that would more effectively target those who are a drain on the government such as social security recipients and welfare recipients, but that's just me letting my thinking drift to the dark side. 😷😷😷Okay, that will be enough drifting, and now back to reality. What is the point of conspiracy theories that are never likely to be able to be proven one way or the other? I'd rather spend my spare time looking for ways to potentially improve our quality of life!

You do have a point. But the previous director of the CDC does carry some weight, no? Especially, when he makes those statements on national television.

I believe the former cdc thought an escape from a lab the most likely explanation. That's very different from weaponised

He didn't offer any detailed explanation as to why

The consensus of international experts is that transfer between species naturally is the most likely solution

He was head of cdc under Trump. That's not a great endorsement internationally

Lol, you do have to read between the lines. You are correct, he never said that. But the way he said it and his body language and mannerisms gave ample heft rto the idea that this was a test of some sort engineered by either the a world power or two. I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories. But I am skeptical only because of how angry he seemed. I don't know what is going on, but I expected to see remorse from most of the doctors and what I saw instead was barely suppressed anger and I am not sure if it is the best way for them to express their impotent stand up to Trump post genocide.

Anyways, this is going way off topic. I don't think that this will ever evolve into a fruitful conversation, so let's agree to disagree or take this conversation someplace else.

The only reason I bought up vitamin D is because we all know that PwP's get severely deficient in Vitamin D and the benefits are clear for at least us, and the other benefits if they were to occur are just a unexpected extra. I should have made that clear and I did not. My fault.

Cheers and have a wonderful Winnie the Pooh day 😊👍

"The consensus of international experts is that transfer between species naturally is the most likely solution ".

Who are these experts!? Anti-Trumpers!?

What about the experts from the other side!?

I'm not the adept of conspiracies but how do you explain this transfer happened only in China near a virology lab?

So called "Wet Markets" are all over the place in South-West Asia (Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos etc).

The experts are people from all over the world (that bit of this planet that isn't the USA) who study and understand the subject. They don't give a flying f*** about Donald Trump. Just like the rest of the world doesn't give a flying f*** about Donald Trump, now his finger is off the nuclear trigger. Their conclusions are based on understanding the science and studying the facts - not on American domestic politics

Probably mass-media experts!

Did he ever have Vitamin D test? Who decided his dose? My husband is taking 10,000IU per Dr. Mischley's instructions after several tests. She asked him to go down to 8,000IU. His Vitamin D level is well above normal now.
