I don’t know if this helps but when I write in capital letters it is easier and more legible, otherwise it’s not readable at all .
Taking C/L should help...
I suspect that you have been diagnosed under 3 year ago
My heart to heart, seriously, best advise
Forget it , writing by hand is over, done, history.
type into your smart phone and computer.
Get some voice recognition software for when the time comes that you can no longer type.
Sometimes you need to roll with the punches and anticipate
Lol. Thanks, GymBag. I’m just getting to this point. I tried writing with my left hand — disaster! Sometimes I use the left hand to guide the right. I usually load up on all my C/L during my work day so that I can write. Then suffer at night. —I guess it’s not the worst symptom, but I can’t learn as well when I don’t write it.
My really bad writing can be transformed by using a LAMY fountain pen with a broad italic nib, real ink and some high quality smooth paper, 120gsm preferably! There are also calligraphy kits... Good Luck! Best regards, Phil
I don't know if you have heard of Halo Sport. It is a neuro stimulative device that athletes use to improve performance. I have used it to improve handwriting and balance. I wear it for 20 minutes which primes the brain and then I practice the skill I want which is handwriting and balance. I certainly feel better after using it but looking at my dated handwriting record I'm not really sure. As I've bought it and I feel better after using it I will continue with it.
Since starting on Levadopa two months or so ago, I have noticed an improvement. I still keep a ruler to hand (to keep the line) and if I am really struggling, I will print.
However I suspect though that Gymbag is right.
Poor handwriting was one of my first and (so far) worst symptoms. I began taking sinemet two months ago and my handwriting improved a lot.
For me it helped using glasses that greatly magnified what I wanted to write.
Even before my husband was diagnosed. he noticed that his handwriting was getting smaller. After diagnosis and "we" knew what he "had/has". I went to the office supply store and bought some graph paper......(even children's primer paper with the HUGE lines would do the same). I took sheets of the paper and with a pen drew large sideways V's....and he had to print letters: starting at the small end and get bigger and bigger. It hasn't restored his writing but it does give his ego a boost, knowing that he can do it. I would use about 3 sheets at one time. Just a thought. It does "throw" the brain and the cognition having to do this exercise.
My handwriting is back to near normal, I don’t know why. Also I no longer use my Dragon which is a voice activated typing software. I type. It’s not perfect all the time but pretty darn close.
I had an impovement by copying some book pages and forcing me to write'em within the lines of a children's second grade handwriting notebook.
