“Nutrient-medication interactions are often the biggest obstacles facing those who want to improve their mental health using Daily Essential Nutrients.

We have some wonderful news: academic scientists in New Zealand who are trained in biochemistry and pharmacology would like to evaluate the mechanisms that could explain the types of nutrient-psychiatric medication interactions we have observed.

As their first study, the scientists propose to evaluate pharmacokinetic interactions involving cytochrome p450 (CYP) enzymes. Twelve normal, healthy volunteers will have their CYP enzyme activity evaluated, then take Daily Essential Nutrients for a few weeks and have their CYP enzyme activity evaluated a second time.

Future studies will hopefully evaluate pharmacodynamic mechanisms, including in people taking psychiatric medications.”

Probably 75-100 variants of the P450 CYP2D6 enzyme. It plays a major role in how certain drugs are metabolized (i.e. tamoxifen and breast cancer). High level bio chem.

Herb Tabor is the man.

Are CYPs neuroprotective? If you are deficient (or inhibiting activity) are you are at greater risk of PD? Do we need more research into CYP450 inhibitors to improve L-dopa metabolism? Back to gulping down grapefruit juice? Curcumin by the boatload?
