Thats good my cousin [ male twin ] both had diabetes one died this year of Parkinson's , he had a bypass but no virus test I wonder why ? Did I hear there could be a connection & doing research ?Also focussed ultrasound popped up on Facebook ,as a treatment which could be worth bearing in mind ?
Good news but your comment is wrong. It won't be available in a year. The trial is starting in a year. If all goes well, we may see it in 5 to 10 years.
It is not my comment. I have posted what they stated in the article. (see link). The trial has probably started with enrollment. Moreover, you do not know if they will expedite approval if the results are spectacular ( yes, I said if - so do not come at me again), given the unmet need.
Sorry. Didnt mean to be confrontational in my comment. The times article was behind a paywall so I read the other link. Its ridiculously incompetent reporting by the times if that's what they reported.
No problem - no offense taken. I understand. Let us sincerely hope that the results are going to be mind blowing and approval will be expedited. I am sure that the trial is going to be short duration (something like 16 to 20 weeks) and if they see excellent results, then approval is going to happen sooner than the usual normal, given the unmet need and sheer number of people being affected.
John, I suggest changing the headline because this will not be a life-changing drug for the majority of us. This drug's primary effect is to relieve dyskinesia. This is an issue for only a subset of people with Parkinson's, mainly advanced Parkinson's.
As far as I am able to tell it has only been tested in animals with an artificially induced parkinsonism. We do not know how well it works in actual Parkinson's. . As Parkinsonjisung correctly stated this puts it 5 – 10 years away from approval, in the unlikely event it gets there. I say unlikely because less than one in 10 preclinical drugs make it to approval. After phase 1 is completed that number rises to 1 in 6 which is only a little bit better.
