Yes, it is Resveratrol and phytochemicals in red wine which are beneficial

I advise against it - alcohol and the toxins (pesticides, fungicides, glyphosate) contained in most wines will offset any benefit noticed with the minute antioxidants. It's akin to the never-ending debate of eggs/yolks and coffee - there are many opposing expert opinions periodically, but alcohol is bad for the kidneys, liver and detox. You're better off and it'd be cheaper to supplement the antioxidants such as resveratrol, quercetin, etc.

What about organic wines? Usually they don't spray pesticides on the vines....same goes for organic coffee, eggs (no hormones), chocolate etc....

I’m all for everything organic - even keep chickens to ensure free ranged organic eggs from very happy(destructive) pet chickens. The only wine I buy are organic ones but even they are tainted with some organic chemicals (still toxic but allowed by USDA), sulfites/additives, drifted chemicals (just as in oats). I occasionally only have a glass or less to go with steaks/toasts, but even organic wines make me feel noticeably bad and ethanol is bad for detox/liver period, even my homemade wines. Btw, they absolutely use all kinds of pesticides/fungicides in wine making - just look at the below for example.

I love wine but I had to pretty much quit after noticing correlations to worsening health. If you drink frequently, you're probably B1 deficient as well, so if not already, try HD B1 therapy or try TTFD (allithiamine) to get B1 to pass the BBB.

My husband died, but it wasn't from red wine. We made our own and have a little vineyard. No pesticides in it at all.

alcohol is a mild dopamine enhancer. this doesn't mean that it is good for brain health. in small quantities (not every day) is beneficial for some gut bacteria if gut health is good (bacteria diversity is good for general health) but it stresses the liver that is already very busy to detox body from meds; so not suggested to create problems

IMHO

This myth has been busted for some time now, turns out it was promoted by a scientist who had created a commercial process for extracting and marketing reservatrol, and put out Trump-like and everyone seemed to run around promoting it, creating his market for him ad nauseum, but 20 years later it's been demonstrated to be false (the benefits of reservatrol, which is what is behind the red color in the grapeskins). Subsequent actual science has failed to support the his assertion. More "madness of crowds." Sorry.
