Physical Exercises 2 VIDEO CLASSES for Parkinson's and others

There is medical scientific consensus that physical exercise is the surest regimen to slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

For the last 8 weeks, my healthy 80-year-old wife Ragni and I with Parkinson's have become daily participants in 2 video classes specifically designed for PwPs [patients with Parkinson’s]. Both classes were warmly recommended by Dr. Mischley, naturopath Ph.D. with 20 years of experience in Parkinson's.

Ragni's active participation is evidence that these classes are also appropriate for healthy septuagenarians and older intent on maintaining their physical and mental health.

#1 – dailydosepd.com offers a general-purpose movement class which claims 500 different moves.

Each session incorporates 3-4 moves, each move repeated 3 times per session. You typically start with the 13 sessions of the Starter Series then eventually move-on to the High Intensity Series. Classes are 23-25 minutes in length.

The first month is free [actually, there is a $1 symbolic charge]. An annual subscription costs $290 while a monthly subscription costs $29. Coach Nate Coomey is engaging and very pedagogical. Outside of class he is easily accessible and immediately responsive. Yoga and tai chi classes are also available [see below].

#2 - yogaforpd.com is also excellent with yoga, a welcome complementarity to dailydosepd.

Most of the yoga moves are from a sitting-down-on-a-chair position, some standing, very few lying down on a mat on the floor of Peter Lynch's residence.

48 year old Peter runs an excellent intensive class of 1h30m with a very engaging [even endearing] one-way audio communication [visual both-ways with his regular audience]. If we tire before the end of the 90-minute class, playing it from a recording allows us to stop and take a break at our leisure.

While the classes take place according to a fixed schedule [see below] you may replay them during the 24-36 hour period following the class. Ragni and I enjoy the flexibility of booking a session 2 days before the day we decide to practice it i.e. if on Monday we decide on a Wednesday practice we will book the Tuesday session on the prior day, Monday...

(Pacific Time Zone)

Mondays, 9:30 - 11 am

Tuesdays, 2:30 - 4 pm

Wednesdays, 12:30 - 2 pm

Thursdays, 1 - 2:30 pm

Fridays, 9:30 - 11 am

The first class is free. The value is high at $3.00/hour if you purchase a $45 package of 10 classes [such that my Norwegian straight-arrow wife doubled our contribution by volunteering to pay for her share !...].

I found the signing-up process confusing at first but Peter Lynch was easily accessible and quick to help.

Amicalement, Marc P.

I highly recommend both Daily Dose and PD Warrior. The highly structured PD Warrior 10 week challenge got me started. I’m continuing with those exercises, but during lockdown, I found the Daily Dose program gave me lots of variety.

I also participate in dailydosepd.com which is great. I can use on my laptop when I travel Nate, by the way, is a PT who specializes in PD, and owns a therapy practice. Very personable guy.
