So I finished the book...

I didn't know what to expect, maybe a primer on running and PD. Lots of aphorisms similar to Just Do It and Git 'er Done. Learned that standing is more difficult than running because it uses more dopamine. And Steve Evans was the first marathon finisher to have had DBS treatment. He finished the LA Marathon in 8 hours, 40 minutes. The author had to stop during the same race to take his Sinemet, thereby missing a sub-4 hour finish time. By publication date he had completed 5 marathons, finishing times ranged from 4 hours to 5.5 hours.

I quit counting after running my 50th marathon, my best time was 3 hours, 40 minutes. my worst time was 11.5 hours because I suffered an avulsion fracture half way through the Pikes Peak Marathon. Nearly all my finish times were more than 4 hours.

I'd hoped for training tips but "Git 'er Done" may say it all. And Pogo's input: We have met the enemy and he is us.

I spent much of the day reading the book. Now I've got double vision in my left eye. Is that a PD sign?

50 marathons! 3 hours 40 minutes - pretty impressive.

How long after you quit running did your symptoms show up?

I never quit running, wasn't getting any faster so I switched to ultras. Ultras are any race longer than 26 miles, 385 yards, the official marathon distance. I did a dozen 50 mile races, six 24 hour races and five failed attempts at the Leadville-100 mile trail race. I was diagnosed with MS three years ago and PD two years ago. I tried a marathon one year ago but had to quit when I kept falling on my face.

My understanding of double vision is it's the coordination of you eye muscles not staying in sync, left eye with the right eye; not a single eye. Cover up either eye and the double vision should go away. It's a muscle issue like many PD symptoms.
