Yes, the video clip is in reference to the story linked above which has previously been posted and discussed on this site. It appears the stem cell procedure went well, was safely tolerated and offered some improvement. But the video seems to go a bit overboard in calling it a cure. Nothing I have read about this story would indicate that as being true.

A bit overboard indeed... They should show an updrs before and after the procedure, again in 3 months, one year and than 5 years, backed by videos of before and after. Only then start talking about a possible cure.

Just finished that tome, yes a hard read BUT well worth knowing that that type of research IS going on and that progress is being made. From the vantage point of having an RN wife to keep me with 2 feet on the ground when I get excited after reading good NEWS, and this IS one of the most positive advancements in my 8 yrs after Dx.

But there is still lots to be done, even 1 more patient treated and evaluated as Parkie outlined would be able to , hopefully, show the procedure is working.

Near the end, I see several potential options to look into for the researchers.

The road blocks were many yet worked around... all most trial and error...

Problem is, even if there is a slam dunk great success right now there is still the lengthy process of getting FDA approval. That would take a number of years.

Furthermore, this type of procedure requires highly skilled people, expensive equipment and insurance against risk. In short, hugely expensive. What insurance would cover that when they can just write another prescription or more levadopa.
