if it is to be
that i have pd,
it is up to me,
(you see),
to get up and go,
heel and toe.
walk and talk,
(trying not to squawk.)
smooth and slow,
to and fro,
(away i go!)
moving forward, toward the goal,
keeping my awareness whole.

This describes exactly how I have been walking today - heel to to - telling myself over and over how to do it and trying not to 'squawk' when I get what feels like a spasm in my lower back. Thank you for this poem, it has reassuredme that it is 'just another parkie symptom'. xx
ii am glad it helped!! yes, just another parkie sensation..!!!
so glad you liked my poem! i will add some more soon!
Very nice.
Really enjoyed this. There is certainly some talent on this site.
Loved it! Put a smile on my face....thank you! What talent! I agree with AndyC...maybe a book of poems should be published....could raise money for PD research; but most of all raise awareness! Most people don't have a clue about PD....it is so misunderstood!
My mantra while strolling--heel, toe. heel, toe. My new problem is the right foot. Toes want to grab the ground like a monkey. Bad toes. My PD is mostly on left side so must be progressing.
