Yearly visit with the urologist

Back from the urologist. Parking lot mostly empty. The hospital is closed, taped off, there's a sign pointing to the emergency clinic a few hundred yards away. There I walked in and was accosted by a guy in a mask holding what looked like a weapon. He grilled me whether I have a cough or appetite problems as he took my temperature with the weapon. Then pointed me down a long hallway toward the hospital. It reminded me of the movie, 28 Days, where the guy wakes up in a deserted hospital. The Uro asked how I was doing. He seemed to be having a bad day so I lied and said okay. He says I'm doing well, need mild increase in dosage and if still a problem in 6 months then botox injections. I didn't ask where, I didn't want to know.

The PSA was 0.5 Normal he said.

Should be at neurological appt. now. I phoned on Wednesday to check if appt. was cancelled or not. Told all appts. cancelled , new appt. provisionally made for 21st January 2021 . So that means maybe 2 years between appts !!!!!!!!!! At least the phone call saved me a 3 hour round trip to hospital on public transport. Stay safe. John.

Scary uncertain times.

Next time, don't lie. The visit is about your health, not his moods or feelings.

The three different types of Preparation H did little to ease the itch and pain from hemorrhoids. On other facebook folders I'd read of ozone gas enemas helping. One guy said his PSA went from 200 down to 4. I've been checking my PSA for 15 years. My dad and grandad each developed prostate cancer. The Uro says odds are strong that I will eventually too. So mainly the Uro exam was to check my PSA. In the past 15 years it's gone from 0.2 to 0.5. When it's up around 4.0 or more they start thinking about surgery. Dad was around 2000 before surgery. He lived another 20 years and died of natural causes. If he hadn't been a life-long smoker he might have gone another 20 years.

My husband has bad urology issues and we have to tell the truth otherwise we're in duck soup. He had the botox procedure in mid February but as of today hasn't helped a bit. Dr. said next time he'd give him a triple dose instead of a single dose. He has a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY OVERACTIVE BLADDER . Every day I think today's the day that we'll see a difference, some days he actually is able to stand at the toilet and pee! WOW!! That is a difference but it's VERY slow........ Good luck.

rjpinette,

Some people find relief from overactive bladder (OAB) with Pumpkin Seed Oil (PSO) as outlined in the following studies :

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/312...

The following link is to a doctor discussing PSO for OAB and other bladder issues:

PSO can be found at supplement suppliers. Here is a page from Amazon :

For Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms or LUTS, the mushroom Ganoderma Lucidum Extract has shown benefit at a relatively low dose of 6 mg. Here is a product at Amazon, but it would require a digital scale to accurately measure milligrams.

My MDS has referred me to uro and gastro this month. The reason for referral is I suffer in my second PD year from frequent urination, and near losing control of my rectum while trying to urinate. My rectum also feels loose when I strain to stand from squating or getting up from a low chair. I have ED. Numbness in my left leg. All these things she says she wants me seen for possible non PD causes. Any advice from y’all before I go? I’m 58 and fit.

I have done a couple of drug CTs on PC and CC patients. Take her advice. First and foremost, find a board certified urologist who knows male PC backwards and forwards. Not all do. Most don't. Then find someone for possible CC.

ED, lack of rectum control, and frequent urination are often tell tale signs of PC and CC, although PC and CC are usually not frequent cormobidities at your age of 58 (normally!). Fitness is very subjective.
