Have been diagnosed in 2014 with PD, at the age of 48. Left side impacted, tremors, walking, stiff, pain in my left footh. Taking ropinirol and sinnemet, however starting with impulse movements, probably due to medication.

Very bad sleeper since a long time.

I tried supplements gaba, vit C, curcuma, NAC, coQ10, ubiquinol, mucuna pruriens.

I am getting worser, i have priods i cannot walk, move, being too tired to do something.

Please help me

Hi NFMEM, sorry for you. Looks to me as if your neuro has to rebalance your meds. It's a continuous process.

Did you try High Dose Thiamine? It did not work for me, but it does wonders to number of participants here (and elsewhere, on facebook).

Daily high dose of thiamine hcl (vitamin B1) and levodopa.

Here are the following PD medications. You are only using two types. Fava beans are similar to mucuna pruriens ( velvet beans); combined with sinnemet can cause a L/C overdose. Your safest exercise might be a stationary bicycle.

Medication

Dopamine precursor: Drug which can pass through to the brain and readily get converted to dopamine. Helps in managing Parkinson's disease.

Levodopa [sinnemet]

Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors: Inhibits the action of catechol-O-methyl transferase an enzyme which is involved in degrading neurotransmitters.

Entacapone . Tolcapone . Opicapone . Nitecapone

Dopamine agonists: Activates dopamine receptors and helps in managing the disease.

Bromocriptine . Pergolide . Pramipexole . Ropinirole

MAO-B inhibitors: Increases the amount of dopamine in the basal ganglia by inhibiting the activity an enzyme that breaks down dopamine.

Safinamide . Selegiline . Rasagiline

Natural ways

I know of no treatment that I would consider unnatural. Magic has not been a part of the usual treatment for many years. All the PD meds presribed by docters are derived from plants, the particular substance is purified and presented in a pill form in very exact proportions.

Exercise is the number one treatment after your prescribed medication. Next comes food and supplements and then stress management.

Old wives tails that not taking medication now lengthens the time that you will have to take medication are proven false. Not taking medication results in inability to exercise and then results in a down hill spiral of diminishing abilities.

I am 72, diagnosed at 50 , it is doable and live-able and very complicated , go to a Neuroligist and do what he tells you. Then get exercise.

What's the dose of Mg threonate? I take what's recommended on the package--just wondering if there's a different (higher) PD dose?

NFMEM--exercise exercise exercise. Find a class! And a REALLY top notch doctor--a movement disorder specialist.

And stay on this forum!

I eat a ketogenic diet, and it helps ME.

Hi Amykp, My standard dose of magnesium theonate is around 400 mg, however after I do some research I may periodically be upping it to 600 - 1000 mg. Some members have reported success quelling tremors with HD Magnesium theonate. However, first I need to figure out if by increasing magnesium, do I need to increase anything else...keep things in balance.

Hi NFMEM,

Sometimes things seem difficult because we don't know them. In reality, the treatment of PD is simpler than it seems. I solved the tiredness with the right dose of Levodopa with the addition of vitamin b1 HCL. Diagnosis in 2015. I add some b12, b6 and magnesium Threonate but the latter occasionally. Exercise is important, but I do little by working full time like you.

Will this also work for you? I don't know, but nobody else knows.

Here is a link on the discovery of levodopa and difficulty of use.

Another where Dr. Costantini presents the discovery of vitamin B1 at a conference of neurologists and answers their questions. (translation click on the flag at the top right).

I understand your fears, but if you stay here with us on HU you will soon feel less frightened by the consequences of the PD because the point of view on our future depends on our ability to look at a probable / possible cure.

Stand in front of the disease and watch. Some might not do it and go crazy, but not here.

We on HU Parkinson movement are the best at doing this point of view.

a greeting from Italy 🇮🇹

Range of motion exercises, doing exercises specifically for those with PD ( info. you should be able to get from the local PD Society, which I did ), stretching exercises, all help me with the debilitating stiffness that I get, having PD and Ataxia. Then, after being limbered up, it helps a great deal, in alleviating the stiffness, and times when walking is a chore! Importantly, don’t panic when you have these episodes. Also, Sinemet makes all the difference, for me. Without Sinemet, my stiffness, and cogwheel rigidity, makes movement extremely difficult, so taking a more natural form of Dopamine replacement would be a good thing for you, perhaps! Hopefully, this info. will help you in your quest for a more natural way, to deal with PD.

There is so much to try. An exciting new treatment is bacillus subtillus which is recorded as cleaning up the alpha synuclein that is misfolding the neurons in the brain. Another is the infra-red helmet. Add to these the supplements recommended and the hour of fast walking 3x per week. For my two bobs worth fill your gut with the right probiotics and try the rest.
