Best sleep remedy for advancing PD?

My mother suffers from a vascular Parkinson's and is becoming increasingly confused. I am aware that the centers for PD and Alzheimer's are neighbors in the brain and therefore one illness will almost inevitably spill over into the other. As this is now happening, insomnia has become a recurring feature in her life, to the point of almost inverting day and night time! What sleeping remedies are people taking? I read that some sleeping pills can actually exacerbate the confusion... Any ideas? Has anyone tried Melatonin and if so at what doses? Grateful for any tips and ideas!

Jennifer

Hello Jennifer. You might like to look at our Zeez Sleep Pebble. It has beed used successfully in a study carried out by Plymouth university with people with Parkinson's related sleep disorders and we have also done some interesting informal tests with people with dementia. The study was presented at the Movement Disorder conference last year and will be published later this year. We sell the Zeez on sale / return and would also be happy to rent it to people in this group (ask me). Here is a clip from one of our users youtube.com/watch?v=Qe9JtwZ...

Always good to get commercial testimonials. What's not to trust?

Valerian...believe it. Finally...out like a light. An old and valued sleep enhancer. We used everything as my husband had severe positional and neurological sleep apnea. He slept in terms of minutes, not hours...always on the surface. Melatonin helps but big doses. He took both...together.

Don’t recall but following the dosage direction on side of bottle helps to start. Dose depends on Each person’s individuality. My husband ALWAYS needed twice of anything. His mom was the same way as is one of my daughters.
