Anosmia, also known as smell blindness, is the loss of the ability to detect one or more smells.[1][2] Anosmia may be temporary or permanent. It differs from hyposmia which is a decreased sensitivity to some or all smells.[2].

Anosmia is not being able to smell and is thought to be a brain condition. What about smelling things that aren't real? For years I'd been dx'd with multiple sclerosis and took tysabri monthly infusions. The main sign was I kept smelling things that weren't real. I'd walk into a room and smell fresh paint while the room hadn't been painted in decades. The false smells would show up a few days before the monthly tysabri treatment and stop a day or two after the treatment. Eventually the neuro decided it's PD not MS.
