Is anyone in the UK experiencing difficulty getting Sinimet
Sinimet. : Is anyone in the UK experiencing... - Cure Parkinson's
Sinimet.
Hi I'm in NZ and we can't get Sinemet 25/100 anymore. I've had to switch to Madopar.
No M-oggy, I'm in West Yorks and use Boots. Bout 3/12 ago they casually informed me I probs wouldn't be able to get it anymore, really off-hand, uncaring. So I rang the surgery Pharmacist who said 'yes there may be problems, we'll put you on 'generic' non-Merck branded tablets.
Anyway, after that my next supply was 'branded simenet'!
Mentioned this to the Parkinson Nurse Specialist who said: "I rang Merck direct and spoke to them, there is no supply problem to the UK".
Since then I've had another supply of Merck branded simenet.
There is something going on, in some places, but it would seem it's not anything to do with them not producing enough.
Hi there. I am on the Welsh border. Tried the pharmacy at the doctors, Boots the Chemist and Rowlands. They all say that their suppliers can not get Sinemet.
Took a print off of a reply I had from a very kind person on this forum and handed that over and I very politely quoted information from this web site about availability. ( which I now can’t find because I am useless(sad sigh).
They took 3 days to supply the generic version but I tried a generic version before and it does not work very well for me.
The consultant is sending me a change of prescription to Madapor but that has not arrived yet.
Stage 3 is hard enough without this faffing around. Years ago it would not have caused me any concern but there we are.
They did seem surprised when I started quoting facts from NZ and Hong Kong and a little wary when I picked up the generic version. I can’t really argue because I have to have something.
In my darkest moments I think that they will get old one day
I've just remembered, it was the instant release Sinemet that had supply question marks above it I'm on Sinemet cr. Madopar will be ok, you've also got Stalevo as an option which has a comt inhibitor in it to boost the L.dopa.
I've had a new comt inhibitor, Opicapone, (Oxygenus) for 6 weeks now, to be used (1 x tab per day) in conjunction with the Sinemet CR. Quite honestly it's been a game-changer, I've gone from housebound to building a deck in the garden!.
Hope you get sorted soon
Sounds fishy to me. What are the chances of the price going up in the near future?
Two months ago I was having trouble in London, as I also had last November to March. It seems to go in cycles. A lot of countries are having problems.
When Sinemet not there,I get the generic (German) and double up on my morning dose. Good luck.
My prescription is monthly. I just just explain to GP and re-order a week or so earlier.
ps. Our daughter lives in Shrewsbury.
To see a GP here for a non urgent appointment I factor in a possible wait of 6 weeks.
Shrewsbury is a nice place.
