My name is Evelyn and I am actually writing this intro for my husband Shazam Khan who is not good with the computer. We live in NJ USA and have 2 grown children. Shazam's journey with Parkinsons started approximately 5 years ago, when he was 64. He was an excellent soccer player and coach and very active. While walking one day behind him, I noticed his left arm hanging. That led to a 5-year journey of doctors trying to figure out what's wrong with him. Just recently he had a DATScan in NYC to confirm what several other doctors believed was his diagnosis....PD. During those 5 years he also had Lyme disease, which mimics PD, so there was some confusion. At the present time the only tremor he has is his lips; however, he has severe fatique, a left weak side, and brain fog (which he calls dizziness, although the room doesn't spin). Shazam hates prescription drugs and we have researched innumerable non-invasive treatments for PD. We are closely watching the PoNS device (have visited the clinic in Surrey, BC Canada) and rTMS treatments. He is currently doing fast walking, thiamine B1 protocol, Rock Steady boxing. He has also done intravenous glutatione (no change), Myers cocktail, Sinimet and we attend every PD seminar/conference we can find. It is our hope that by joining HealthUnlocked we can keep abreast of all new developments to help all those suffering from this horrific disease.
