My HWP has been in constant pain for over a month. Left shoulder which has been around for a long time. A cracked rib a year ago that has been reagrevated walking the dogs. This month he has been to er 3 time to exclude coronary issue. Once they do send him home. He’s lost over 20 lbs this month 157 at 6 2”. He had a big build. He can’t eat is t taking meds Moana and groans cries from room to room. What can I do to get hospital to admit him for his pain . Is that a thing. He was super constipated it’s now resolved so badly he’s wearing a diaper. He’s 61 dx -10 prob had it longer. He’s insane accuses me of everything I am an unsavory person I guess. Help me get him admitted so they can fix his pain and get him stable on his meds all 37 of them he takes none now. Help

How awful to hear of your predicament. I am so sorry for what you are going through. I do hope someone will come on here to help you.

My husband is the PWP and I can't bear to think of what could lie ahead. What a truly terrible disease this is.

When you are in that kind of pain, you no longer think rationally and he is beyond manageable by you. I would just suggest calling 911 and having an ambulance come get him, whether he wants it or not, to take him to the hospital so he can get proper medical attention. Once they have his pain controlled and he is in a better mental place, they can then slowly start him back on his meds and he can get back to a better functioning state.

Allowing him to stay at home in his current state seems like it will only allow him to decline further and neither of you need that! The sooner they can control his pain, the better things will become! Take a list of all of his medications with you to the hospital.

This is a very difficult situation and I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Some thoughts I have to share I hope will be of use:

37 different medications is way overdone polypharmacy. No wonder he has thrown up his hands and has given up on taking anything. Someone, preferably an MD, should go through all of it and figure out what he really needs.

Parkinson's muscle pain usually means dystonia. The proper treatment for that is Parkinson's medication. If you can get him to take his Parkinson's meds that may help tremendously.

This really sounds like a nightmare and I’m sorry you guys are going through it!

We don’t have experience with the pain, so I don’t know how to get the hospital to help with that, but they usually won’t discharge someone who can’t eat or take meds.

If they won’t keep him, you could try to get him into a rehab facility. If he can walk and do physical therapy, try for a high quality neuro rehab program to help him through to feeling better, rather than a nursing home, where the care is not as good and he would likely decline further.

Sending you best wishes that he feels better soon.

your neurologist or your primary care needs to help you with this. if not, you could try talking to the social worker at the hospital to see what recourse you have. There may be palliatavie care available- there is here in the bay Area- that can send nurses to the house and help you find the right care for him.

NanaCC, I care for my HWP, and we are also 60 yrs old. I'm sad for both of you with this situation. I, too, like park bear am wondering if 37 meds could even possible be beneficial. Try to find a doc who will be willing to wade through that with you. Praying for you.

If in US very difficult to get in patient for PD unless you can convince ER life in danger. 37 meds is alot of side effects. Any possibility of 2nd opinion w Neuro MS for a fresh look at your husband how is suffering. May have costrochronditis (inflammation lining of rib) even after fracture heals, usually treated w anti inflammatories. Hopefully you will get some answers.
