Taking a Lot of Meds Every Day

I am a 73 year old woman who was diagnosed in February of 2017. I'm doing pretty well. CL has helped a lot. However, I take other meds also and find it difficult to get used to taking so many pills each day - 19 prescription pills plus some vitamins/minerals every day. It seems that there are so many conflicting opinions though on what vitamins and minerals should be taken on a daily basis. Can anyone else relate?

That sounds like a lot of prescriptions/pills. What do you take & why?

I am the same age as you. When I was 52 I needed no medication , my eye site was of no concern and I could hear everything . I had a good exercise program and I was in perfect health.

Every meeting with my GP and Neurologist , we spend time reviewing my medications with the hope that I can reduce. I just grabbed tomorrows pill dispenser and there are 22. Some for Cholesterol so I will not gum up the heart stints , and a couple pain pills for Arthritis and 12 pills of various types for PD.

It is what it is . I know first hand what happens when I do not take, each one , all are necessary. However , I just noticed that I have not taken my 3 o'clock or 7 o'clock. That explains a lot. I am only 8 hrs late. Its going to be one of those nights again. It is my wife's fault, she was watching a movie and did not remind me.

If your doctors and Pharmacist have checked it out , then I would not worry.

It’s my wife’s fault!!! I think I’d deleted that comment if I was you 😡

She would never read the stuff I write. We will have been married 50 years come May. The standard of the day was for the minister to say to the bride "Repeat after me, I promise to love, honour and obey until....." She warned him , he did not say it, everybody relaxed and so it began. She is 87% of the reason I say I am a lucky man.

Whether she would read what you write or not it’s still not a nice comment to make , would you say it to her face ? My husband was diagnosed with PD in 2006 , he is the one with PD although he says the family has PD as it affects us all , have to thought about how your issues affect your wife ? A flippant comment like yours if offensive 😡

One can't get too serious about comments like that after 50 years of marriage or they probably wouldn't have made it that far. I laughed. Happy to see a couple who know how to take life as it comes. 😉

Yea everything is offensive. Someone is always outraged. Someone always insulted. Boy , I bet your a barrel of laughs . Lighten up lady it is tuff enough.

Does your husband ever smile ? My wife laughs all the time . Life is short , get some.

I read the list of your medications and it seems that they're are essential medications. I can suggest a service called "Pill Pack", they divide your meds for morning, afternoon and evening (whatever your schedule) so all you have to do is tear off the individual packet and take. Remember to take the Levothyroxine first in the morning on an empty stomach at least one hour before eating. Pillpack.com

I open all my pill capsules and dump their contents in 2” of pear juice and mix in a bullet.
