Diphasic dyskinesia

I been taking Rytary for about six months now. What I read that Dyskinesia can occur when the level of levodopa in the body is at a maximum, referred to as peak dose dyskinesia,or when the levels of levodopa are rising or falling, referred to as Diphasic dyskinesia.are some times referred as silly Foot, stomping, kicking of leg twisting. It’s happened to me several times on Rytary. I feel like saying, hey everybody let’s do the twist. Thinking of Chubby Checkers, with my right arm swinging hand flapping twisting right foot. I tried to record it on my phone so I can show my Dr. If I didn’t live alone I try getting off the Rytary. I live 7 miles from town, so it makes kind of difficult. My local Dr. could careless about me. I ask him a ? One time he said was past is pay grade. Hey anybody got any ideals. Please let me know Thanks 🙏

I have diphasic and peak dyskinesia. I couldn't take Rytary, it was too unpredictable for me. I take 10/100 c/l. It works a little better for me than 25/100 c/l. I tried Amantadine to supposedly reduce dyskinesia, but I'm not sure if it helped or not. It definitely caused constipation.

I think I’m getting worse, and really unpredictable. I trying to eat healthy and exercise. I went to town yesterday to get groceries and I had stop by a friends house. The dyskinesia came on so quick I had to lay down on is couch for about a hour.My friend said he go to the store and get what I wanted. So after he got back from store. I was feeling better I just got in my car and thought I grab a hamburger it would quick and easy. Well I at home and start eating my right arm went straight up with burger in hand. I thought I looked like Statue of Liberty 🗽 😆

Hello, I use 25/100 2 of them every 3 half hours. Is the 10/100 lower in cardopa (10)? How does it help with Dyskinesia? Thank you, Maria

It is less carbidopa. I could try to explain how I think it works differently but if I get it wrong someone might flame me so I'll just say it is more predictable for me than 25/100 was and I feel better on it.

This is the reason most Parkies are trying to reduce amount of medication they need and take by exercise . Eventually some like me get to the point where the doctor suggests that you take more Leva/ Carb and then Amantadine to counter the side effects of the LC . A pill to allow you to take a pill. All exercise helps, but not everyone can totaly replace medication with exercise.

I take 2 Amantadine per day and I am very glad I can without major side effects. It took some time to get used to it. You have to find what is best for you. Strenuous exercise if you can force it , can really really help .

Good Luck

My neurologists states that the combination of thiamine hcl with C/L will prevent dyskinesia.

Rytary was terrible for me but we are all different. Dyskinesia worse, I think it causes weight loss, unpredictable, as someone who stopped it said to me the highs were too high the lows too low. Sometimes it wouldn’t kick in then it would kick in too much, ugh not a good experience.

I had to switch drs just to change back to sinemet the movement specialist kept insisting it’s the Cadillac of drugs on the market right now, I said I don’t feel well can I go back to sinemet? She refused after multiple pleas, I switched Drs. Glad I did. It did last longer but in my opinion it needs to be reformulated I don’t know how.

Sadly, this is another example of doctors not listening/trusting their patients. I'm glad you found one who works with you rather than dictating a protocol that was harming you.
