Parkinson's Relief, Questions and Answers

Guide:

1. Read page, About, open links.,

2. On Files page, open B1 FAQ document.

3. On Files page, download First Appointment document, answer and submit.

No, B-1 is not a cure for PD. It has benefited many of the forum members here in reducing PD symptoms and, based on available experience, appears to slow or halt disease progression, but this is based on approximately 6 years of clinical experience of Dr. Costantini in over several thousand patients. Here is a link to a page that should answer most, if not all questions you may have about HDT :

Not a cure, just a treatment. All my symptoms have disappeared except slow gait which has improved and fatigue. I can smell again, my arm swing is back, I can rollover in bed, constipation gone, incontinence gone, no UTI’s, no toe cramps, no brain fog and a few other symptoms gone or improved. It has to be b1 Thiamine hcl. The HCL is very important. Other b1 Thiamines don’t work. I hope this helps. Roy’s Facebook page is dedicated to the thiamine hcl. It is very helpful. Read as many prior posts as is possible. That is where I learned everything I know about Dr. Constantini’s b1 protocol. Just about any questions you have are already answered there. If you can’t find an answer just ask the group. There are always folks willing to answer and give helpful advice. I highly recommended this lifelong treatment. Good luck and I hope you try it. All the dosing information is on the group in posts. This is why it’s important to read as many posts as you can.

What’s your daily dose Margie out of interest ?

mannp profile image
mannp in reply tojeeves19

I started with 1g at breakfast and 1g at lunch. All my improvements came at this dose. About 1 week ago I increased the morning to 1.5g hoping to improve my fatigue. I am still very fatigued so I am going to increase to 2g at breakfast and 1g at lunch. I’m doing this on my own in Dr. Constantini’s absence. I am fortunate I have my neurologist’s blessings on this treatment. I must add that I have parkinsonism as opposed to Parkinson’s disease. Very similar. I have the same symptoms except no tremors. Parkinsonism is not a specific disease as Parkinson’s is. It is just the same symptoms of unknown cause. I do have Chorea movements similar to Huntington Disease. That I don’t have as I’ve been tested for it. My DaTScan was inconclusive.

What other meds do you take along with B1?

mannp profile image
mannp in reply toKipper1285

The only other meds I take for my parkinsonism is Agrezza for my Chorea movements. Thank goodness for insurance because it is $6000.00 for 30 days, 1 capsule per day. I stopped all my fish oil, vitamin C complex, B complex, folic acid and D3 last week. I wanted to have a clean slate to know that I was being helped by b1. I had been on the others from 1 to 4 years and the b1 just since the end of November 2018.

thiamine HCL , vitamina b1 di tipo idrosolubile , credo sia la stessa che usi tu con le iniezioni.

Excuse me.

Traslation:

thiamine HCL, water-soluble vitamin b1, I think it's the same one you use with injections.

mannp in reply toGioc

Possibly, but I take capsules. I’m thinking about the injections to see if it helps my fatigue. With your knowledge do you know what might help with severe fatigue? I believe it is parkinsonism related. I’ve tried Provigil, it puts me to sleep. The Doctor suggested b12 sublingual. I’ve only taken it for 2 days but so far no help.

eh well! you need to work on it for a bit 'at least a month, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to supplement the other vitamins and minerals, a little protein and push a little the body to work, the b1 helps a lot. the mood is good I see, the motivation you do not miss, so you're on your way with a little discipline the dark days will soon end.the pills working well too. make your life beautiful and interesting like an Artwork it is my motto.

I do have a very poor diet. I get enough sleep. I keep late nights trying to help others and myself. It’s 3:15am here on the west coast of the USA. I attend a balance and movement exercise class twice a week for an hour. I would go more often but she only has it twice a week. I will try changing my diet. It will be difficult. I normally eat one meal a day and that is at night. I’ve been like this since I was in high school. I am also obese from certain antidepressants I have taken in the past. I’ve never lost the weight. Thank you for your advice. It is appreciated as always. To bed now for me. Good night.

I was extremely fatigued when first diagnosed. Blood test revealed severely low level of B-12. I had injections monthly for 2 years with daily oral supplement. Level is good now; I have yearly blood test to check. No more shots but I take 2000 mcg daily.

Took a while for B-12 levels to come up enough so I was no longer dragging through my days. I also take D-3 which helps; blood test showed low levels of that as well. I also eat well too.

Hcl is a chemical compound. I’ve been out of high school way too long to remember the periodic table. I believe it is hydro chloride or something very similar. Try googling it. Sorry I don’t know exactly. It is interchangeable with HCI. They are the same compound. Different companies use either one of them.

Hi Margie,

I am glad to hear that you are doing so well on HDT!

I was wondering if you could copy and paste your post above to a thread on this forum where people are reporting their results from using HDT? The thread is long and takes a moment to load because it is long, but it keeps many of the HDT reports in one place making it a little easier to find and read. The thread is heavily followed so it will maximize exposure of your post, plus you can reply to the post at anytime in order to update on your progress over time and it will make it easy for people to follow your progress in chronological order. Below is the link to the thread.

Thank you!

Art, I’m having trouble trying to copy my post. I’m using my old iPhone 6. I’m not a computer guru like so many are nowadays. Would it be easier if I used my laptop? I don’t mind helping and sharing my experience with others. I feel it is my duty to share and educate others as much as I can. We can learn so much from each other’s experiences. Advise me on use of the computer as copying and pasting. I know how to do it usually. I don’t have much success doing it on the phone is all.

in reply tomannp

It should be no problem with a laptop. I would do it for you, but if you do it, your icon will appear next to your post which will make it easier to find if/when you want to post a reply to that post in order to update it at any point in the future. If I copy and paste it, my icon will appear next to the post and will make it harder to find and reply to at a later date. If you are unable to access a laptop or desk top , let me know and I will cut and paste your post with my icon as a last resort.

Thank you for your response, time and effort!

I got some thiamine online that was recommended. The pills are HUGE and difficult to swallow, even cut in smaller pieces. Can I smash them and dissolve them in liquids to get them down?

mannp profile image
mannp in reply toshanaandbear

I don’t know how well they might dissolve. It might be better to crush and mix with applesauce or yogurt. In the USA it is recommended to get capsules of b1 thiamine hcl from, Vitacost.com. The are much easier to swallow. They sell 300 capsules 500mg for less than $30.00 US. You can also get bulk powder on Amazon to mix in yogurt. I don’t know the recommended dosage for powder. Some people buy Solgar in other countries. Good luck.

THANK YOU! I will follow your suggestions. My hubby crushed up today’s dosage and I mixed it up in a water bottle with a lemonade drink mix. I coukdn’t taste the vitamin at all...which is good! ❤️😘

in reply toshanaandbear

shanaandbear,

Some forum members have reported just chewing the tablets up and then swallowing them. Not the greatest taste, but doable. If you have access to the Vitacost 500 mg Thiamine HCI capsules, they are much smaller than the tablets and easier to swallow and cheaper than the tablets.

vitacost.com/vitacost-vitam...

Another consideration is the pure powder thiamine hcl which has no gelatin capsules or fillers and dissolves easily in liquid. The downside to the powder is that it is quite bitter and will need to be mixed with something sweet like yogurt or a sports drink.
