DONEPEZIL: i have P D are Drs think i have... - Cure Parkinson's
DONEPEZIL
Over-the-counter supplement vinepocetine has been shown to improve mental clarity in people with Parkinson's.
What proof are they showing you to prove you are getting dementia? My husband's neurologist told him he had Parkinson's dementia or Lewy body dementia. He then saw a neuro- psychologist who did extensive testing and said that he doesn't have any kind of dementia. His thinking has slowed, he has a harder time bringing up short term memories , but his intelligence is still good.
He needs to tell you what he bases his diagnosis on the only way of really telling is an MRI as I am aware
Donepezil does for acetylcholine the same thing that MAO-B inhibitors do for dopamine – slows down the rate at which they are degraded by native enzymes. The fact that donepezil relieves your constipation is evidence that Parkinson's constipation is the result of degradation of the acetylcholine system. I suspect that other Parkinson's problems that are not relieved by levodopa are also the results of acetylcholine degradation.
