My husband who has been on a drug called ABILIFY for just over 2 yrs developed Parkinsonian symptoms was thought by his family physician and his Phsychiatrist to have PD.. after much online reading and researching I came across Mucuna Pruriens in which helps him greatly with the tremors and rigidity .. hoping this was not a diagnosis of PD yet he seemed to have much of the signs of PD.. it ends up he was told by 2 Dr's one being a Neurologist and the other a Movement Specialist Neurologist.. they both said he does NOT have PD he has Essential tremors.. the first Neurologist only said not PD was essential tremors but didnt say could be caused from the drug ABILIFY,, we didnt quite trust in his word and since he also was NOT a movement specialist we finally got into one and he also says NOT PD , it is EPS Essential tremors likely due to the drug ABILIFY which is known to cause parkinsonism symptoms.. We were happy to hear this and now start with weaning off process of the culprit in hopes it is NOT to late and the tremors could eventually disappear. This Movement Specialist said My husband did not have any of the core symptoms that they look for when diagnosing for PD..

So this is great to know and in the mean time we wean off the drug and hope for the best... If you or someone you know is taking an Antipsychotic medication and later developed tremors and PD type symptoms just know it may not be PD at all.

It is no secret that Abilify can cause tremors.

It is great that you found this out, but it is an indictment of the medical profession that none of the doctors who saw previously thought to check on this, especially the one who prescribed it. Doctors are propagandized to believe prescription drugs can do no harm and supplements can do no good. This is not so.

Always check symptoms of unknown cause against medications you are taking.

Oh his Shrink did say .. Well my medications can cause tremors but when he had him walk he thought he saw his one arm did not swing, and that his tremor would be Asymetrical and not on one side etc, You are right they believe natural meds are not good .

Well okay then, some credit to the shrink for at least considering the issue.
