Those people who have had DBS done, do you or did you have balance issues, and did the settings have any effect on it.
Thanks

Yes-they got worse.
Yes, my husband does but still satisfied with the surgery as he could not eat, write or use computer with his right hand.
I have better balance than than before. This AM i donned my underwear while standing with no problem.... maybe 50% of the time.
I had balance issues because of Stalevo..Falling down all day long..Switched over to Sinemet and balance issues gone..And yes, I do believe DBS cleaned up my balance issues
make sure if you get it that the hospital is a very good one, preferably a teaching hospital. my husband was evaluated at Shand's in FL and told that at the time, the procedure didn't work for 'gait' problems so he was ineligible. they also said they had loads of patients who had to come there to get corrections made by incorrect procedures in the first place....seems everyone thinks they can do it. he did go into a pilot study while he was there for rTMS and was considered a good candidate for it. he later got a lot of that with excellent but temporary results.....not covered by insurance so quite expensive and we had to travel across FL 2x a week to access it. it is 'deep' brain stimulation, not the more superficial one used all over for depression. he was treated for depression but as the weeks went on, every one was surprised that his PD symptoms began to disappear....even the telltale racheting elbow so typical of the disease.
