I am a Personal Trainer Certified in Delay the Disease. If you aren’t exercising, start immediately. Intense exercise targeting your specific symptoms and getting your heart rate up daily is key to living well with PD.

If you aren’t sure where to start, you can order Delay the Disease books and DVDs online, look for a group exercise class specific to PD (also a great way to gain camaraderie), or hire a personal trainer who understands PD and will push you out of your comfort zone.

Many local Parkinson’s Foundations offer exercise grant money to help with the cost as well.

My experience after going on 6 years is to find a good motion disorder specialist and ask many questions. Become a member at Michael J Fox Foundation. Exercise often and do your best to stay positive.
