Dbs recover

How long after DBS and after initial programming when do you see improvement. I have done the two surgeries and at my initial programming. I was told to increase power by 1 each day and to stay on same Meds. No relief yet

Mine was immediate but I don’t remember increasing voltage slowly. Had it done at duke. I’m curious what your settings are at (but don’t contravene your doctors’ advice w/o consultation)

Setting first day .5

Then second day.6

At that rate I would think it will take some time before you get meaningful relief -I am around 3.0; but again, stick with what your doctor says

I had mine done at Oregon Healeth Science U at Portland.... my electrodes are in the Globus Palladius Internus which is less common than the subthalamic nucleus. My unit wasn’t turned on for 3 weeks but I felt better immediately post op.

They had me in stated at like 5 watched my face contort and lowered it but by but until I felt better. I actually thought it was funny to

l. would say 6 months to really become fine tuned

I wated that long and since then have never looked back

Iwould say you are looking at approx 6 months The important thing is to have patience I know it took me quite some time but since then I have never looked back. That was about 13 years ago since my op and I have had PD for18 years .i go to gym 3 days a week play golf and i still work
