I have doctors appt. on January 23 for DBS programming. Is there any thing I should say or do to make sure I it is a successful visit? This will be my 3rd or 4th and im not real satisfied the results. I have heard how important the programmer can be. Is this true? I want better results.

Everyone is different, but I strongly advise patience. Don't get discouraged. My programming sessions were once a month. I thought I would feel better after 6 - 8 months but it took me a year. For some time it seemed the sessions were "wearing off" after only a few weeks. I think that being a DBS programmer is as much an art as it is science - the variety of stimulating parameters for amplitude, pulse width, and frequency appear to be infinite & can be subtle. Communication with your Programmer is key. It was worth the wait for me since I am MUCH better now. Hope this helps. Keep us posted !
