Hi everyone! I’m new to this and am hoping to educate myself on the topic of Parkinson’s and the experiences of others.
I am a caregiver to my husband who is 74 and was diagnosed in 2013. My husbands condition is not severe and he does not have the tremors. He is taking the levedopa/carbidopa 25/100, 2 tablets 3 times a day.
He experiences the un-animated face, drooling, stooped posture albeit not severe by any means, slow moving, unable to get out of a chair without assistance most times, assistance with dressing, difficulty getting out of bed. Of late, hallucinations seem to on the rise and he does fall asleep a lot during the day. He does experience pain although he does have arthritis due to his injuries. My husband also has what’s called “drop foot” in his left leg as a result of a vehicle accident, and uses a cane to assist with walking outside the home and a walker at home.
He has been seeing a neurologist since being diagnosed but we live in a smaller community and this neurologist comes in here.
On his last visit the neurologist decided he would finally refer him to a neurologist that specializes in Parkinson’s. I’m looking forward to hearing what they have to say. Like others I have read about his medication was by trial and error. I sometimes feel that when he first gets up in the morning he is ok until he takes his meds. Hoping this new neurologist will be able to shed light on this.
Interesting info on here. Thanks for sharing!
