Warning contains TMI! Will anyone here talk about how their sex life affects their Parkinson's or how Parkinson's affects their sex life.

We should not be timid about this subject. A good and satisfying sex life is just as necessary for good health as exercise and nutrition. I am 64 and up till 3 months ago it any time anywhere. I was good for at least once every day. In the last 3 months things have change. I see my doctor on monday and i will talk with her to see what we can do to get back to normal.

I have told this story here before. When i was 59 i was 7 years with pd and was taking Requip 18 mg a day. My wife was handling the pills when she would get them out for me. One day we were starting to "play" and i noticed her lady parts were larger. They where at least 2 times larger than they had been. Her libido and mine were off the chart. We went from 5 times a week to 3 to 5 times a day. Each time would be at least 30 minutes and up to a hour. She was in a constant state of arousal. This went on for almost 2 years until i started to reduce the Requip and started taking C/L. After i reduced the Requip every thing went back to normal. We went back to 3 to 5 times a week.

I do a combination of acetyl l-carnitine and propionyl-L-carnitine on the advice of Dr. Shallenberger, for maintaining potency, rather than use testosterone. I find it works very well. These are over-the-counter supplements. He recommends 2 g of each per day. I take 500mg and 750 mg respectively, twice a day - slightly less, but does it for me.

Bailey. Why does you being on the meds increase your lady’s constant state of arousal. She wasn’t taking them too eh?!

Thank you Bailey. I have not experienced anything remotely similar to that. Escatelpram ( if you want it spelled right put it into spell check ) increased my libido and the other meds take it away, the boring stuff.

Okay... here it goes. Pramipexole (Mirapex) absolutely devastated and ruined my life. They say 1% of us gets Hypersexuality and Recklessness as side effects and I unfortunately am at the front of the line of those 1%'ers. After 33 years of marriage to my High School Sweetheart and a very solid family including 7 children and 7 grandchildren, the love of my life, finally reached her limit and filed for divorce due to my running around and unfaithfulness. She being 50 years old and having Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as diabetes, her labido dropped off the radar while mine skyrocketed off the charts. I eventually strayed and betrayed her with MULTIPLE partners and than things got so bad, she just couldn't take it anymore and she filed for divorce. Never in a Million years did I think this would happen to us. I was taking 18 MG's a day, but have reduced it down to 9 MG's which has helped rein me in and bring me back close to normal. Well maybe not normal... but a hell of alot better than I was.
