Mudras are hand gestures held for a period of time to benefit health and/or spiritual growth. For years I had been Instinctively holding my hands in a position so that the tips of index and thumb touched. Its called the Gyan mudra. It's often used in yoga during meditation. I found it would stop my tremor. However when I searched mudras more I came across the Vayu mudra, one of the suggested benefits of which is easing Parkinson's symptoms, specifically a tremor. Touch the tip of the index finger to the base of the thumb, with the thumb covering the index finger. Keep the other three fingers as straight and relaxed as you are able. The suggestion is that you hold the position for ten to fifteen minutes 3x daily. I find I can do it while watching tv, travelling, even walking, so you don't have to make special time for it. When I do it I feel calmer. The YouTube link has these two mudras first and fourth. I'm not suggesting it's a miracle cure but it can help and it's easy to do, has no side effects and is cost free!

Hand mudras for tremors
Thank you for posting this. The body healing itself...I love it! I did them all along with the video and realized that my hands are becoming a little tight. It is so subtle though, I wouldn't have noticed without doing these mudras! I am going to practice every day....great to accompany meditation. Namaste!
If you want some excellent hand exercises, I can recommend these... fariastechnique.com/focal-d.... I've done them daily for a year now and have regained the flexibility needed for playing piano, writing and painting.
When we are not directing conscious attention to a limb there are neural circuits that try to hold it in place. It is a feed back loop and PD introduces a delay that causes the oscillation (tremor). When we hold the affected part in maximum extension, or as you pictured, flexion, the tremor is prevented.
Thank you! The hand mudras are a positive and easy exercise. Nothing but the best-healing for our bodies! Love the natural approach!
I will be damned. IT WORKS
It really works.
Parkbear can you expand on the explanation, why it works ?
