Is anyone anyone gaining wt? Dr wanted me to lose 40#... less wt on my legs. I lost 22# and was doing really well, and out of blue couldn’t get enough sweets. I really need help! Have any of you had a problem? I don’t think it’s the Mirapex because I lost while on it

Max 60g of carbs/day, no sweets nor sugar in inged label. No need counting calories. Meat serving, do not exceed the size similar to deck of cards. Eating more meat may not be problem. Meat, salad, veges. each meal. You should not be hungry after each meal. It has been some time since I was on this diet. I cannot remember details w/o looking up my notes. I lost much weight, fast, my wife became worried.

Was it Atkins? I could never lose weight on that one

in reply to12Maxwell3

Not Adkins. If you do not lose weight, there is another problem you should look for

Keto diet and Wahls protocol might help you lose weight and even help with some symptoms. You can read the Wahls Protocol book, interesting. And sounds along the line of what RoyProp is describing. Keto they say 20 to 25 g net carbs a day only but you can use a keto calculator on the web to run your specific numbers. If you also take sinimet you will have to time the meals as the protein can interfere.

I have terrible sweet cravings with Mirapex. Doctor thought I was nuts but I could not hardly eat from other health issues and then the mirapex changed some of that. Did seem to lose weight at first too but the cravings are terrible and I have reactive hypoglycemia so the last thing I need is too much sugar. I try chewing gum or sucking on a sugar free candy and am trying to get on this diet also for the health benefits. Please let me know if you find anything that works with the sweet cravings.

Thank you ! I do chew gum, too. I haven’t been able to walk lately because of pain in my left ankle, but need to put that aside and start walking.

Can you try an ankle brace? Or strengthing exercises for it? And build up slowly.

Yes, I do wear one. Wish I knew what was wrong with it. It burns and throbs whenever im on it. I fall and have balance issues, but wondering if maybe it’s the Parkinson’s. I have an Appointment with a orthopedic Dr in December, but see my neurologist in a couple of weeks. I’m also in physical therapy and hes worked with I, but nothing seems to help

Maybe from getting stiff with the Parkinson's or Neuropathy? Btw, I would tell your Neuro about the sweet cravings as Mirapex can cause OCD issues, some people have terrible problems. I take it in addition to the Sinamet and it does seem to help with my speech so been dealing with it.

Isn’t it funny how one symptom can just keep adding more problems? I definitely will talk to my Neurologist.

When were you diagnosed? Do you have tremors?

Oh the disclaimer, I am not a doctor so please check in with yours first and do your research regarding PD and Keto. You can also listen to Dr Terry Wahls on YouTube.

I lost 60 lbs. eating whatever I wanted, only portion controlled. Sometimes just a small portion or a few bites can satisfy those cravings.

Thank you I will have to try this. I don’t remember how I did just a couple weeks ago. I am craving nothing but sweets and can’t stop eating it. I have to lose this weight.. I see the Neurologist in a couple weeks

Try to find a fruit that can satisfy your sweet tooth. Maybe strawberries, bananas, fresh pineapple or apples. These are really low calorie, but very filling foods. My husband lost 50 lbs over a year when he began eating pink lady apples before each meal or when he wanted a snack. He pretty much eats what he wants now in moderation. He tries to have several servings of fruit each day.

Thanks! I just cut up fresh pineapple

If you are going to eat apples - eat the cores and crunch the pips. There is some stuff in them which is apparently helpful ( and the extra roughage will help you go...)

Do not keep sweets in your house. I have found that having Coconut Water and flavored sparking water (both sugarless) is helpful during cravings. It helps to physically grab and ingest during cravings and they are both good for you.

What better does Coconut water taste like. I drink a gallon of water a day, but I’m going to try this..thanks. Is it with the bottled water?

It is an acquired taste for some but my husband and I think it's delicious. If you get a good brand like "Brian and Amy's" it almost tastes a little like chocolate milk. Drink it really cold. It's not with bottled water where I'm from. It's usually in the healthy section at the grocery store. It is packed with electrolytes too, more so than gateraide which is full of sugar.

Yes!!! Heaviest I've ever been, gained 40lbs since DX. I have no willpower. I've tried...just dropped weight watchers. Sweets!!! I take Ropinirole along with the Sinemet. I do wish I could get it under control.
