I can run with my walker, not very far, but it feels very liberating. I use a walker in areas where i have to get across a road/through a parking lot or areas with lots of people. If i try to walk quickly or if i feel rushed my feet freeze. It can be very frustrating. Yesterday i was( w/ my walker) at an outdoor mall w/ my daughter and it can be so annoying when i walk so slowly, so i began to push off on my toes and kind off sort of run.. i tried this several times until i was sort of running. I look lik a crazy old woman running wth my walker.
so can i transition from walking slowly with a cane or a walker to running with no assistive device?? any suggestions? I really would like to do this.
Can running help you get over the freezing?

I am very interested in the answers you get. In a slightly different problem, I have discovered that if I work on my stationary bike for 20 to 30 minutes that I can walk with a walker for the same amount of time without my toes curling and having to stop and sit.
Before my toes started curling I had been able to avoid freezing by walking at a fast pace with the walker but I had some surgical operations that kept me from walking much and balance and leg muscles deteriorated. The bike is also helping build up the muscles , unfortunately does not help balance which you will need to "run" without the walker.
Wish I could go barefoot, but i cant even in my house. I tend to walk on my left foot but my right soles. I cannot for the life of me get my feet to ever walk properly w/out shoes.
If you really want to overcome the freezing you have to take conscious control of your movements. If you look at my profile and make contact with me I will help you, at no cost.
