It scared me. It kills bad ANDC GOOD brain cells. I chose to do Deep Brain Simulation and it has given me my life back. I asked the researcher one question before deciding against it "Is anyone in the study worse off" and the answer was YES.

Using a laser for deep brain stimulation. That sounds a bit like "modern day quackery" to me. Shades of treating Cancer with colored lights.

I've been the DBS route and successfully after a year and 5 surgeries. Albeit satisfied and grateful for my life being extended, Icant help but think someday some kid is going to walk past the glass case in the Field museum displaying skulls (post lobotomy) ..........and DBS by then, exclaiming the same thing we do now.... "Look how barbaric their practice was!"
