Hi I was diagnosed with PD seven years ago my neurologist has me on Sinemet100 mg tablet 3 to 4 times a day, sifrol er x 1 and Azilect x 1. Last week I started using mucuna prereins (MP) It's much more effective and lasts longer. I got my m/p from China and its 98% l dopa.
I've stopped taking sinemet, azilect and Sifrol and now going through the withdrawals.
My question is this I'm taking 1/4 teaspoon of MP compared to the 100 mg tablet that my neurologist prescribed.
Is this too much? Can someone please offer some advice as I can't ask my neurologist he won't be interested
Thanks

I recommend the book "Mucuna versus Parkinson's" by Maldonado. It gives a lot of good advice. 98% ldopa is rather high. 15% is suggested because it allows for all the other good things in mucuna to be in a dose. But read the book. It's got products and doses and where to source them as well as advice on swapping from synthetic to natural.
Purchase a jeweler's or supplement scale that can measure in milligrams. I weighed 98% pure MP derived L-dopa and 1/64 of a teaspoon was approximately 40mg. Yours may weigh differently, but for mine 1/4 teaspoon would be over 600mg. (I think that's right, but it's late.)
I am on MP 98% as part of my Amino Acid regime. This concentration must be treated with caution and should only be dosed via a jewellers scales.
I have no experience of Pharma drugs, but would strongly recommend being clear of them if using my advice.
You will probably need to take 5HTP to combat the nausea which will arise. In the same way as Sinimet uses Carbidopa .
The daily dose of 98% MP (LDopa) should be in the range 2G - 7G. Best to start low and rise slowly. Do not go over 7G.
Same with the 5HTP. Start low (1-tab) and rise until the nausea goes. 5 tab max.
Please understand that this is a case of the blind leading the blind, but we're all in the same boat. Best is to go with a doc. Mine is Ron Cargioli in Indiana.
Thank you so much at last someone I can communicate with. I've been without sleep for three days now because of the withdrawals from sifrol and azilect. I've decided to go back to them but not to sinemet. I'm desperate for sleep. I live in Melbourne Australia and its 130 am. This is my third night the heart palpitations woke me up. I measured 1/4 teaspoon it weighs about 800 mg. I take a total of about 4.8 grams. I spoke to my dr this afternoon but he couldn't offer any advice.
That's been my experience too! With sinemet, I get this horrible rigidity and contortion in my right foot. With MP, I get a slight reaction along those lines but nowhere near as bad. It just seems gentler over all, and as you say, lasts longer.
So far good. I take about 1/8th teaspoon 1st thing in the morning with 1teaspoon of mannitol. Generally kicks in within 10 to 15 minutes and lasts about two to three hours. No where near the side effects of sinemet. Only problem is that mucuna is in powder so ease of use sinemet is simple. I take between 3 to 4 doses a day.
The supplement companies say their product is 98% (pure) but they don't say explicitly that is the amount of L-Dopa. I think that refers to the purity of the Mucuna Pruriens, not the % of which is L-Dopa. Usually the extraction ratio is 4:1 or 15 or 20% L-Dopa. Any one else figure this out?
I took 1/4 teaspoon this morning at 736 it started to work within 20 minutes however it was too much and felt nauseous for about 20 minutes. But it kept me going for 4 hours So it must be pretty pure
