"Mucuna versus Parkinson" by Dr Rafael González Maldonado, neurologist. Everything you've ever wanted to know about using Mucuna and more. Did you know that drinking green tea increases the effect of levodopa?!

Hey Daffers. Was going to email you today, but as you happen to have walked into the playground, I may ask you here and now: what have your experiences been with the Mucuna? I noticed you posting on sourcing this and made a mental note to contact you re. progress. Hope you're well and still playing the piano.

I read the book last year and since then have been taking Macuna along with Siminet. Worked well but decided I need a Doctors help. I found a doc.that treats with Macuna and went to see him. He wants to start me on Marty Heinz treatment for pd. Its Macuna along with amino acids. Can get expensive depending on how much dosage ends up being. Will give it try starting Monday. I will also decrease the Siminet slowly. Diet and exercise are also important along with drinking a lot of water. You can look Marty Heinz up on the internet and also Natural Solutions for Parkinsons tells what you should or should not eat. Right now I take Siminet along with 2-3 Macuna(Now product)

Hope this is helpful.

I started on NOW Dopa Mucuna, 2 per day, 5x week. Its a cheap brand from Amazon. Im on my third week now. I take it with Egcg, which is green tea extract of sorts. The Egcg supposedly sends the L Dopa through the blood brain barrier where we need it. The result I get is it reduces my muscle spams, mostly. Im thinking about upping it to 3 or 4 per day but I am hesitant to mess around right now!

I also do my own amino therapy with whey protein isolate, about 30 g per day. I get more energy and stamina as well as better workouts with this.

I say no to Sinemet! No other drugs except Isradipine, which is a calciium channel blocker currently in phase III clinical trials to prevent PD from getting worse. So far I havent gotten worse, too.

Just thought Id share that with the group. God bless us all.

I take 3 Mucuna (NOW) every day along with 4 sinemet 25/100. Would love to stop taking the sinemet but don't know how. You mentioned amino acid could you explain how you take it. I started amino acid treatment through a Doctor but it was so many pills a day I could not tolerate it Thank you for your post.

Hi. Be careful when trying to go off Sinemet, I've heard it can cause some real problems, especially if not done properly. I have a friend that changed from Sinemet to Amino Acid Therapy & ended up worse. He had been on PD drugs for about 15 years. So, I'm not saying not to do it, but check with your doctor first before going off PD drugs. If anyone disagrees with this & has successfully gone off Sinemet after several years, without problems, please let us know.

Who are you asking?!

Read! Using the sprouts Mucuna which are very potent and easily absorbed, but also have the 15% l-dopa extract, (1tsp is equivalent to 5 grams providing 750 mg) and pills when I travel! Combine with green tea extract and green oat extract (may work as a natural MOA-b inhibitor). Doing very well, and feel better than I have in years!

Chandleran. just started using Life Essentials "Dopa Mind" as a Mao-B inhibitor. my reading says that the pharmaceutical versions should be eliminated 14 days before starting Sinimet. curious. would like your thoughts

Are you still taking 'dopa mind'? Were you on rasagiline/Azilect or the other synthetic MAO- inhibitor before? How's it going?

Mine.. it's all experimental. Latest step was to take the fat soluble vitamins at the same time I take the fish oil and hemp oil in the a.m. Should have done this before!

As this is a journey of discovery, I am now using a powdered whey protein supplement for amino acid add on. I add it to my a.m fruit and veg smoothie. Hated all those bottles and capsules
