A lot of people with Parkinson's have diabetes. I became diabetic about 3 years ago, I think I had diabetes for a lot longer than that and did not know it. I took berberine for a very short time it did not agree with me. It's tremendously upset my stomach.

No, I only took it for a very short time. Since then I have been on insulin. After trying metformin and becoming deathly ill after it I was managing it with a diet till it stopped working. I wanted something that would be the easiest on my system with the fewest side effects.. The insulin seemed to fit the bill. I am following dr. Bernstein recommendations. When I first started on basal insulin they put me on Lantus to which I became very fast allergic. I am using levemir now and that seems to be working out just fine. Mary
Like antibiotics, golden seal should not be used for long periods:
"However, it is important to note that some people can actually be harmed by golden seal, if they take it for too long a time or in too great a quantity—especially if they have weak digestion."
