Yes i get pain. It is a pain unlike any pain i have had before my DX ith PD.

The pain is deep along the bone and is a sick pain. That is the best way i can describe it.

So it is Parkinson's related. Was in the ER Sunday, had ct and abdo ultrasound. Just put it down to uti.Yes pain is like that have had no appetite

I have pain. Recently pain in lower back so severe I had to be treated at hospital. I have also hip pain. At one time so severe I could not move. The x-ray of my hip showed no problem with the joint. At my last appointment with my neurologist he did not associate the pain with my Parkinson's. I am not convinced. It seems to me that the pain is a symptom.

I agree as I have only been recently diagnosed.few years ago had all sorts of tests for same pain, they thought it was fibromalgia

I agree with you, Roy. When I went through my assessment for Rock SteadyBoxing, I said pain was a problem. The woman conducting the assessment told me everyone's No. ! complaint coming into the program is pain.

I have muscle pain, as if I'd over exercised :( and have what I thought was sciatica for 10 months, various treatments haven't helped..... now I'm wondering? I've had no xrays. I also get sever pain (golfball size} behind my knee, in my calf, in my chest, upper arm, which lasts for about twenty seconds then disappears.

I get pain. It's an achy type of pain for me, not sharp but still painful. To me it feels like the pain of when you have worked really hard and your muscles ache but I have not worked really hard at all. It also feels like a tightening around my torso. Like I'm being squeezed. This happens during my bad days and off times and it was all the time before I got on PD meds. This has been happening to me for years and my neurologist has said to me that pain is not a symptom of PD. Well I'm going to go to a different neurologist now.

Rajbhai I'm sorry you are not getting relief from meds you are taking. I don't have any answer because for the me the Sinemet and Azilect are relieving my symptoms. Perhaps it's time to adjust the dosage of your meds?

Tried accu and physio which helped a lot but too expensive to keep having. Will try the turimic

Beemacs profile image
Beemacs in reply toKaykaykay123

Acupuncture worked for me years ago but then it quit. I had numerous UTI's until I had a hysterectomy in July~~after giving birth to five children I had a prolapsed uterus. I think the UTI's caused a lot of my pain. My biceps still hurt but my pain is nothing compared to what it was before surgery.

I read the article & I'm wondering if aroma therapy works when you no longer have the sense of smell?

Good point. May not be good for most PwP's?

Up to 85% of people with Parkinson's report pain as a major complaint. It was my first symptom, back and foot pain. Everything always looks fine on the MRI or the x-rays or whatever. And yes, it is impossible to describe to other people. My pain is usually caused by muscle spasms, dystonia. When my meds are off it will start in my back and work its way around to the front rib area. Lets me know it's time for a C/L.

Now, thanks to Hal 9000, I am watching Princess Bride clips on YouTube. Must dig this movie out and watch the whole thing... so good! so funny!

I also get "got to go pain" This kind of pain makes me want to jerk or just move my arms or legs, feet, or hands. If i don't move the parts that are hurting they begin to hurt worst'

Matter of fact pain in both hands right now. Got to move them to relieve the pain

I had awful pain in my thighs and groin area about a year ago for about 4-6 months. A friend told me to take Emergen C and in a few weeks my pain was gone and it hasn't come back. I know 2 PwP's on this site that tried it and it worked for one but not the other, so it's worth a try. It has Vit C, B vitamins, magnesium & electrolytes in it. You can get it thru Amazon or at a grocery or drug store. Give it at least 3 weeks. Other things to try:

o Epsom salt bath w/lavender at bedtime

o Massage

o Chiropractor (one thar knows something about PD) and doesn't just "crack your bones"

o Drink lots of water, this is tough to do & I have trouble doing but I usually feel better when I do. Your body needs water for lots of reasons so this is probably the most important

Going to look for this.Have tried Epsom salt baths but do not help

One more thing I thought of that I didn't believe would work, but it does. It's a lotion called Topricin. It's a "Pain Relief and Healing Cream". It's safe for Diabetics, Patented for Neuropathy. On the bottle it says it's Purpose is: Relieves pain in lower back, hip & spine, muscles, spasms, night leg cramps, sharp stitching pain in joints & muscles, etc. etc. I'm not sure how it works, but it does. I get it through Amazon.

Pain almost all the time, but a different kind. Like Theresa C explained, mine is the type you get from working out, your muscles ache. This is all day. If I'm on its not to bad. Constant stretching helps. Looking into those midevil torture racks. My PD feels like I'm in a big vise, and slowly turning up the pressure. Good day and keep moving!

Serenity_finaly-1 profile image
Serenity_finaly-1 in reply toIsthistheone

You know. I have tried to find a nice torture rack. You will see somebody on an old movie just being stretched and you say to yourself " lucky! "

Isthistheone profile image
Isthistheone in reply toSerenity_finaly-1

Hal I thought about installing a ceiling chin up bar, but I don't have the strength. Maybe we should get together over some senemit and build one of these racks!

I wonder if those come in the fold up and store behind the couch variety. My place is pretty small.

My husband got one of those inverters for his back pain and uses it twice a day and swears by it. I tried it once and found it painful to use and have never tried again.

I have had back pain for 25 years, predating my diagnosis in 1999. No pathology in my back, my neurologist agrees it's pd related. I came across a device made by quell. It is a tens like unit that straps just below your knee and works no matter where your pain is. I was skeptical, but was living on huge doses of narcotics and still barely getting out of bed, plus they offer a 60 day trial period. I am not pain free but i am down to a minimum of pain meds and no longer spend my day in bed. I have no financial interest in the company, just a satisfied user. You can find it at quellrelief.com. Worth a look. please feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Yes.. pain in both calves behind both knees. Stiffness like I've worked out at the gym yet the stiffness and pain never goes away. What helps is carbolevo and azilect also stretching exercises and exercise bike. Cannot sit too long like in a theater or will have a difficult time standing.
