Jan: Yours is a difficult question to answer; there are so many different kinds of abdominal pain from so many different causes. Mine is very sensitive to anything tight or restricting around the waist, and is sometimes simultaneous with lower back pain. Is any of that familiar?

From the brief information, severe abdominal pain, it sounds alarming and something you need to discuss with your doctor who will ask such questions as if it is constant or intermittent pain, how long the pain has been present and whether it is relieved by anything or if it is made worse by anything. Without careful questioning about this pain unfortunately it isn't possible to comment further. As jan says there are many different kinds and causes of abdominal pain.

I am answering for my husband jon to give a more detailed explanation. He has had this pain for several years. We have hadri , endoscopy etc with negititive results. We have even tried botox injections with no relief. The drs have no explaination for the pain. We were must wondering if any one else has had this issue.

I wonder if what you are describing is so called central pain. Here are two links to look at. Have you considered a referral to a pain specialist? Long term pain is very debilitating. I do hope you find something that will help you and soon.

Thanks, moderator, see my answer to Jon. I have been to so many docs and was actually insulted by 2 GI specialists. (My daughter says I'm being too sensitive, they were joking, but hey I'm in pain). I mentioned a pain specialist to my neurologist, but he brushed it off, thinking I wanted pain meds. Which I don't!

Yes, yes and yes. Mine started during preparation for colonoscopy. Now I get stabbing pain which grabs all my PD symptoms and I end up in bed until it passes. This is going on 6 years. PD wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for this pain, which USUally occurs after a b.m. (Sorry if TMI). keep us posted, Jon

.Mine is in the xyphoid process and runs down to the belt line. Often the pain will move from side to side. Have seen docs for the colonoscopy, etc and

none help. Went to Mayo Clinic and they did not find the answer to the pain. As I type this the pain stabs me in the chest. Had more test done at the hospital today. Pain meds help some but not sufficient. Do not know what to do next. Had injections (12 at a time) up and down the chest. I might be sleeping at night and turn over the the pain may begin. I do not know what to do next. --Dennis
