Someone recently said they had great results for their husband from theanine. I did a medical research on it for PD and found zero articles, which is strange. Almost every nutrient has some research for it in relation to PD, for or against, especially something as common as an amino acid like theanine. Even stranger is that it is probably 3rd after caffeine as the most important compound in green and black tea. That's strange because green and black tea are second to only nicotine and coffee in terms of evidence in preventing PD. And no researchers have thought to check theanine? Makes me go hmmm. I'm sorry, I'm testing wine today.
Theanine, hmmm: Someone recently said they... - Cure Parkinson's
Theanine, hmmm
From Google:
L-Theonine used for anxiety and depression.L-theanine has an effect on the release or reduction of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, resulting in improved memory and learning ability. L-theanine may also influence emotions due to its effects on the increased release of dopamine. L-theanine reduces brain serotonin concentration by either curtailing serotonin synthesis or increasing degradation in the brain.
If I were you I should also stick with wine.
I found some general info in a quick search. Here are a few links...

(Parkinson's connection mentioned under nerve protection.)
"These results suggest that L-theanine directly provide neuroprotection against PD-related neurotoxicants and may be clinically useful for preventing PD symptoms."

[hmmm...]
That would be me. I have never seen theanine connected to PD- we use it for anxiety and it works for us. I was checking with the cardiac doc to make sure it wouldn't trigger afib and he laughed and said,'how do know about theanine?' He was looking at it from the cardiac point of view which I knew nothing about. Since then, I read up on it and it has a lot of cardiac benefits...so two for the price of one!
I think the info about its use for anxiety is fairly new. I have had it in the house for a couple of years but just didn't give enough when we tried it.
