I am so tired of struggling with Dyskinesa. I look just like Michael J Fox with all the gyrations. Head bobbing, shoulders jumping and a grimicing face. HELP. ANYONE?

Dyskinesa
What have you tried?
Amantadine helps
kachimom, For me, dyskinesa is caused by over medicating. Try taking 1/2 a pill instead of a whole, for example. Start with once a day. Or talk to your doctor.
My wife had similar problem, and her new doctor recommended she reduce the dosage of levo-dopa in thirds, then take it three times a day instead of one. Same amount of total dosage, but less at each time. It helped. Claude Bachand.
I had the same problem, predominately the right side - my shoulder and leg had a mind of their own - my neurologist tried Rytary - and after a few days I noticed less movement in my shoulder and arm and leg - however, standing for any length of time (over the sink doing dishes, etc), I find that a slight movement still exists with my leg - but it's nothing like it was in the beginning ... Good luck - I know how devastating on so many levels this uncontrolled movement can be ...
I had a lot of dyskenesias which have been lessened both in frequency and duration now that I am taking only Sinemet. These are related to your medicine so what medicines are you taking?
Are you tremor dominate or PIGD (postural instability, gait disorder)? I'm the later and the only thing that helped me was DBS. My dyskinesias were bad enough that I was Weighing in at 138 lbs due to the relentless motion that burns calories all day long.
I was having the same problem, uncontrollable dyskinesia after taking my med. My doctor change me to 1/2 a tablet of Sinemet every 3 hrs- 4hrs. and 1 Azilect in the morning. Much better now only a sight tremor if at all. On the occasional bad day when the Sinemet doesn't seem to work, I will take 1 full tablet then continue with taking an 1/2 after that.
Dyskinesia was bothering me so much, and it irritates me that it is related to the meds, not directly to PD. I was taking Sinemet CR 25-100, 4 a day. I changed partially to the Sinemet 25-100 that was not controlled release, for half of the dosage. I think the CR pills were releasing too much medication at a time during the day for my needs, and caused the “shoulder roll”, and made every task difficult. Changing to the regular during the day helped me. I take the regular Sinemet 25/100 in ½ pill dosage 4 times during the day, for a total of 2 pills; then the controlled release, 2 pills at bedtime. It basically stopped the dyskinesia, and I’m sleeping well, yet I am still taking the dosage that my health provider recommended. I also take 2 Amantadine a day, but found that the generic didn’t work as well as the original (which is a red capsule).
I TAke 1 100 mg amantadine 3x /day & it certainly helps my dyskenesies.
I take 100 mg of amantadine 3x/day . It really helps with my dyskinesias.
My dyskinesia is more closely related to a wearing-off than overuse. Happens primarily at night when I am on the CR medication.
