Best to you...stay active
Physical therapy and not just exercise but staying active, as Jash says, are the best way to help yourself. It pays benefits now and later. It may even be neuro-protective, that is, help slow progression of the disease. Mood and keeping your mind in a good place are helpful too. 50% of PD patients get depression, with the newly diagnosed being hit particularly hard. Join a PD support group. Look up the state American PD Association and make an effort to attend, even if your symptoms are managed. We all need a place to talk about what's going on and to learn more.
From a Scottish perspective, I couldn't agree more with quirkyme. I would only emphasized Exercise, Exercise, Exercise, stay hydrated and get a good night's sleep. From an 11 years veteran "Enjoy the journey"
Kind regards

I am glad that you are doing well. I live in Birmingham and I highly recommend getting established as a patient in the Movement Disorders clinic at UAB. It is a division of the neurology department at UAB. They are very active in multiple research studies and they are up-to-date on the latest treatment options. My neurologist is Dr. Harrison Walker.
