I was so disabled I couldn't stand for more than few minutes...stooped over and used a walker. After four days of reduced dose of a Mirapex started to feel better. I had started to get freeze step, very stiff, shuffled walk, etc;. All of that is gone . Went for second opinion four weeks ago and dr. said too long on Mirapex. Yeah! Second opinion.

I had to take my husband off of Mirapex Dec.2012, all for the BEST. He also went off the Sinamet, NEURO said he built up an intolerance to them. He has been off all pd MEDS since Dec. 2012. I so often wonder if the side effects from the drugs caused his fall five years ago, am using other sources to help him do better, am praying they will. Since he went off the MEDS the torso tremor, etc went away. Best to you, glad you are doing better. God Bless.

Your parkinsons changes over time as does the response to therapies. If you get constipated or dehydrated or develop cognitive issues the drugs that once worked can become problematic . Often patients end up on totally different drugs to what they started out on. It's too easy to blame the medications in Parkinson's when often it's a combination of reasons. Dehydration and constation being one. Of them

Was it very difficult to come off mirapex? My husband was told to reduce his dose, but could not move,

How long did it take you to come off them entirely?

Is mirapex and mirapexin the same?

My symptoms were not improved and the side effects were immediately disabling. I struggled on it almost a year plus another year on Requip before neuro switched me to sinimet. Honeymoon is now over!

I've reduced mine 1/3. What I didn't understand about Mirapex is that it takes several hours to begin working so it was difficult for me to determine how much it helped. I do intend to try and further reduce it but not sure how much more. I've been working on reducing mine for several months.
