My dbs was 2 yrs ago, (I have a rechargeable unit) this April we also had our 25th wedding anniversary a yr later. This surgery will be an amazing wonderful, puzzling and exciting trip to get your life back, It stops the shaking and that was God sent for me,BUT it will be hard not expect to much to fast, IT TAKES TIME to regulate and set for you and your system, I was med free for almost a whole month!! I had the awake surgery - when the fist feed went you I felt !! the taunt ridged feeling from my left arm leave!! I almost cried with relief. My friends and family held a fundraiser for my bills and our motto was "Her future's so bright, we have to wear shades" then I bought cheap sunglasses and we all wore them most of the day!! then friends brought me scare crow stuff for the Wizard of OZ ( He got a new brain LOL). I had a huge support system and knowledge is your power. Take care and please report back so we can share your joy!!! God bless!! Kadie

Good luck and speedy recovery. Please post your recovery experience. I'm scheduled for a 2 day pre-surgery evaluation in Portland Or in May. If all goes well with that then on to the DBS surgery. In all my readings, research I've I've seen very positive info. Your mix of feelings sounds right on target for what's ahead........take care.

Dear VL,I had the surgery in October, 2010 and as scared as I was, all the fear I had was for nothing. it was a snap. don't worry about it!

Thank you everyone!! It really makes a difference knowing you are all out there. Tomorrow will be our 42 wedding anniversary! Here's to the next forty!!!!! Doubt I will sleep tonight. This time tomorrow it will be fine. Thanks again. Much love. Xxxxxxxxx

Well I am home. Surgery much better than the surgeon expected..next Wednesday I get the stimulator put in an then in one month we turn it all on and fire it up!! I feel much better than I imagined. But it still hurts like he##!!

No pain at all here, or discomfort now 5 weeks on from surgery, all under general anaesthetic in Bristol UK. Awaiting being turned on in 6 days. Hoping the process of tuning does not go on as long as it is for some (a year has been reported).
