Hi, has anyone tried any natural mao-b in... - Cure Parkinson's
Hi, has anyone tried any natural mao-b inhibitors like kava, ayuhuasca, etc.?
Not me
Only a synthetic one, i.e. Selegiline.
The trouble with "natural" remedies is all of the unknown gunk that will be present
in the whatever form it comes in (leaf, seed, flower?). If you take a synthesised version then that should be very pure.
For a bad example take tobacco, I say this is a bad example because as so far as I know there aren't any beneficial chemicals in tobacco. Actually, I suppose with regards PD then tobacco apparently does have some beneficial effect but I've no idea which chemical is beneficial. So, if there were and you were using tobacco medicinally you would also be taking something like 5000 other chemicals as well. Many of these in tobacco smoke are toxic or carcinogenic and with such a large number many will have an unknown effect.
So, I can't see an advantage of natural but tainted over synthesised but pure.
Yes, took part in an ayahuasca retreat in Brazil, which was totally amazing....made lots of shifts, but not in itself significant in changing parkinson's symptoms. I'm planning on taking part in another program in Peru which includes ayahuasca.
Thanks for the input Pete, I'm trying to find a natural form because from my understanding all synthesized meds cause side effects. Often times the extra added gunk in natural remedies give a balanced more natural approach that counter side effects.
I take Foti/Polygonum Multiflorum/He Show Wu and it has been scientifically tested in relationship to PD:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/162...
Where I purchase Foti:

Their Foti is very pure plus it is sold in a 5-1 ratio of extract to fluid medium. Most suppliers in the US sell it at 1 to 1 which is much less concentrated.
