Pramipexole is the same as Mirapex.

I did not do well with Mirapex, but we are all quite different. Just make sure you talk with your doctor and keep track how you are feeling and when you feel your best. That should help your doctor find the right meds for you.

Tommy: I tried Pramipexole, started with .125 mg. That had little effect, good or bad. When I upped the dosage to .25 mg. I experienced an itchy reaction which my Neurologist labeled an alergic reaction. I know that doesn't help you much, but it wasn't right for me.

Good luck in your search....

I was given it 10 years ago. I was told that I was being treated for bradykinesia-slow movement-before I was told I had PD. It helped my movements but was like a sleeping pill... I was sleepy at 2 pm. It was nearly impossible to drive. The MD took me off of it and concluded that I had PD. I then purchased Azilect directly from Israel at $10/day before it was FDA approved. It seemed to work the best.

This stuff made my dad absolutely insane. Haliciantory dreams, and completely off the wall. Stalevo (same as carbidopa with an additional enzime inhibitor gave him 3 week of the "runs" until we found out that was a side effect.

Azilect worked wonders.

Hi all. I am currentlly on pramapexole. Azilect and amantidine. The prama is. 5 4 times a day. Worst part is upset stomach sometimes and the sudden sleep issue.

when I was first diagnosed, I was given mirapexin. The pain in my leg disappeared overnight. Unfortunately it made me so ill I could only tolerate the lowest dose, so the symptoms very quickly came back. I felt as though I had permanent flu, felt sick, could barely move from the sofa.

I went on to requip which I can tolerate, however, is not very good at managing my symptoms. I do have days when I feel okay, and others when I don't, but that is typical of the condition. it's only now, after nearly 6 months of taking it that I feel I'm beginning to feel some benefit.

Sometimes these drugs can take a long time to have an effect, so if the mirapexin doesn't make you ill, stick with it for a bit longer, everyone is different , so it's just a case of finding what works for you.

Good luck

Ive been on it for 8 years and it works well for me - had it for RLS before Parkinson's dveloped/was diagnosed and it was amazing for that.. 2 issues - don't change dosage amounts or start/stop it too quickly - there have been issues with that. It also can cause premature waking during the night - since iv'e been taking 2 tablets of Sinemet 50/200 slow release at night that has not been too much of an issue.

I had restless leg syndrome as well as PD. My consultant prescribed Mirapexin and now my sleep pattern is back to normal. I still take my other meds i.e. sinemet 62.5 x 9 per day and azelect 1mg x 1 per day. Some people get gambling and sexual urges on mirapexin. If you do then go to your GP or consultant. We are all different but for me it was a Godsend. I do not have these urges.

I take 1.5mg 3 times a day and really have no problems from it at all. it does seem to help with most of the slowness I had when rising from a sitting position and some of the shaking. The only real problem I have had with it is that I wake up at 2:30am every morning and only doze off and on until 5:30am, when I finally have to get up for the day.

Hi

I take that drug pramipexole or mirapexin or mirapex it has different names in different countries. since every one is different it may suit you more to take the drug on an evening. This means you get your sleep and don't suffer from the main side effects. Simple
