My doctor is a Neurologist. Is that the s... - Cure Parkinson's
My doctor is a Neurologist. Is that the same as a PD Specialist? If not how doI find a PD Specialist?
PD dr. are neurologist but not all specialize in PD. some neurologist just do PD only or some do PD and movement disorders.my first dr that did some of my first testing and told me i had PD was a neurologist but he did pain management. im in houston, im luckey we have some of the best dr. here, my husband called a PD neurologist center and that was all they did. im now at a research hospital that specialize in PD but also other things as well but i wanted to be in the research part of it.
Thanks . Now I understand the difference. I'll have to find a PD Neurologist here if there is one.
I was going to a neurologist, then I discovered, through friends at Yoga, of this neurologist who specializes in Parkinsons. I've been only once, but he seems more up-to-date than the other. HE seems to really care more.
Hi MaryAlice -
If you go to this website address - parkinsonsjourney.com/parki... - you will find a listing of all the Americna Parkinson's Disease Assn.'s locations and if you contact them, they should be able to give you some help with that. I agree also with the others re: asking your neurologist if he knows of any that specialize in PD or a Movement Disorders Specialist. Good luck and I hope you find the right person for you.
A neurologist who is a Movement Disorder Specialist specializes in Parkinson's. They go through another residency to attain that subspecialty. I don't know how many there are in the country but I'm sure a search would pull them up or call your local Medical Society for names. My husband see one and his care is much improved over what we got from a general neurologist.
good luck. PD hurts and we al need all the help and support we can find.
I was seeing a neurologist, and they sent me to a tremor specialist, he is a neurologist, but he only deals with tremors. He is Great !!!!
