The reason why Disability takes so long , is because number one, they are overwhelmed with so many cases . And number two, they drag it out , to try , and intimidate the applicant. To the point they have no other choice, but to return to work. But if you have a legitimate reason for getting disability, and your Drs are willing to back your claim. Then you shouldn’t have any problems.

I agree that there are so many claims and not enough people to work the cases in a more timely manner. This is where I was coming from: my husband is sick & no way can he work. Not for sure if I said in my other note but he has stage 4 Cirrhosis of the liver, non alcoholic. He has worked almost 40 years & paid out social security, etc. Even with the dr providing all his test, diagnosis, can’t work they still denied the first claim. We were prepared for that but it still just didn’t make sense. In the letter he received they said he did not provide his education experience. It was not on any form he completed. He went through a local office to get it all done. They were missing something & you would think that most businesses would pick up a phone if that was needed. In my opinion it just stinks. And yes, it especially aggravates me because I know how sick he is. Granted I’ve seen now where his case did get approved probably earlier than most but it was still 8 months total. To me it is unacceptable. However, I also know when it comes to this state, lack of money is the issue. Not enough staff also means you can forget trying to get a live person on the phone. Lack of return calls and more. It reminds me of how veterans have been treated. I’m going to get off my soap box now. Thankfully he did receive the funds including back pay. He said to me one day that he would probably die without having been approved. It wouldn’t surprise us though if ppl are dying while in the whole claim process.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I can’t believe they denied him, being he has a terminal disease. That’s awful. My mom had emphysema, and she was approved right away, but that was in 1995 . I guess things really changed. I’ll keep you in my prayers 🙏🏻
