Hello friends: Newly diagnosed in Oct. My RA number came down to 18 from 104 as of today. My Rumi wants it down to 5. Still alot of inflammation. He is changing me from MTX oral to injections. Anyone know if this has helped them? 1600 ml of ibuprofen got me thru my days. I understand I can no longer take that with MTX injections. (Interaction)

Hi Angela - The injections are generally easier for most people (as long as you are not shot-phobic) because it does not hurt your stomach.

Web MD says in regards to taking Ibuprofen with MTX: Serious. These medicines may interact and cause very harmful effects. Contact your healthcare professional (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) for more information.

So no, it looks like you cannot take them together. Did your doctor give you anything to help with the pain? If not, you probably need to contact them soon. "In moderate to severe pain" is no way to try to run a life. Best of luck!

Thank you. My pharmacist and Rumi are discussing it as we speak.

I take methotrexate injections, I inject into the top of my leg as I also inject enbrel, this into my stomach. I also take anti inflammatories, nabumtone/reliflex. This seems to be ok with these drugs.
